- The steady hum of the car engine filled the space as we cruised along the dimly lit roads.
- I stared out the window, the London skyline fading into the distance as we neared the more secluded areas where Caleb’s father’s mansion loomed. My fingers drummed nervously against my thigh, and the knot in my stomach tightened with every mile we got closer.
- “This is insane,” I muttered, more to myself than to Caleb. “I didn’t sign up for this kind of pressure. If I’d known things would get so complicated, I never would’ve agreed to this shit in the first place.”
