Chapter 7 Unexpected Outcome
- "Come upstairs with me. I have something to tell you." Olivia pushed Adriana aside impatiently and stood up to head upstairs.
- Adriana obediently followed her.
- "What’s wrong with you? Jack is almost losing his mind because of you!" Olivia slammed the door shut and gritted her teeth in anger. She glared at Adriana. "Other than studying yourself to death, what else can you do? I’ve already shown you the way; why haven’t you gone looking for him?"
- If it weren’t for Adriana’s unexpected return, Madam Kingsley would have certainly agreed to her parents' proposal to marry her off to Sebastian in Adriana’s place.
- But in the end, all the plans she had painstakingly made ended up in vain!
- And Jack? He was useless too. He couldn’t even find Adriana properly. To make matters worse, he had been beaten and didn’t even know who had attacked him.
- "Sis..." Adriana almost laughed at the sour look on Olivia’s face, but she managed to hold it back. "You know my sense of direction has always been terrible. I only walked a few steps, turned around, and then immediately got lost. I didn’t even want to go home either."
- "Jack is still waiting for you at the foot of the hill. If you follow the route I drew on the paper, you’ll see him." Olivia gritted her teeth. "Go before it gets darker, or else Dad will definitely beat you to death!"
- Adriana lowered her head, trembling as she stared at the tips of her shoes. "I’ve lost my bag. My ID and bank card are all inside."
- The meaning behind her words was clear: she needed money.
- "Idiot!" Olivia raised her hand and poked Adriana’s forehead harshly with her finger. Finally, with a heavy heart, she handed over her bank card. "Take this card. The password is my birthday."
- "Thank you, sis!" Adriana suppressed her disgust and went to hug Olivia. "Once I’ve settled down, I’ll contact you."
- ‘At most, I’ll only contact you in my dream realm,’ Adriana silently added in her heart before pulling away from Olivia. Without wasting another second, she hurriedly opened the door and quietly left the Hudson residence.
- ········
- "Can you withdraw the money?" Isla kicked the corner of the wall impatiently and rolled her eyes upwards, staring at the streetlight above her with boredom.
- They had come to the bank at midnight to withdraw money, yet Adriana acted as if she were about to rob the place.
- Adriana, now dressed all in black with her face hidden under a cap, walked out of the ATM booth with a disappointed look on her face.
- Olivia was really poor. There was barely £200 in her account. Wasn't she supposed to be Raymond’s precious daughter?
- "How much money does she have?" Isla, also dressed in dark clothes, quickly asked Adriana with shining eyes. "She must be really rich."
- "Two hundred." Adriana tapped her wallet and walked away from the security camera toward Isla’s car parked by the side of the road.
- "Damn, that's not even as much as my monthly allowance!" Isla curled her lips in disdain, her face filled with contempt.
- When Adriana was 17, Isla had already taught her how to drive. She drove the car back to the Harrington residence, and once inside, she immediately flopped down on the couch as she contemplated her fate.
- She wondered what excuse Olivia would come up with to explain her absence at the house. With Raymond's temperament, he would surely never send anyone to look for her, let alone care about her well-being. Besides, they had originally planned to kill her anyway.
- She couldn’t go back to the Hudson residence. If she went back, she would surely die.
- “What are you going to do now?” Seeing Adriana staring blankly at the wall in front of her, Isla sat down beside her. With a hint of worry in her voice, she asked, "The university entrance exam is coming up soon. If they really don’t care about you, who’s going to pay for your education? Sebastian doesn’t seem like someone easy to get along with either."
- "There will always be a way, one step at a time." Adriana beamed at her and pulled her upstairs to rest.
- ········
- Meanwhile, at the Hudson residence.
- Olivia stared at the screen of her phone in frustration as she waited for the call to connect. It rang for the third time before Jack finally picked up. She let out a relieved sigh and asked anxiously, "Jack, did Adriana go looking for you?"
- "No, I can’t reach her either." Jack began to feel a headache coming on. "Why didn’t you just send her here yourself? You made me come all the way out here for nothing."
- Olivia was immediately shocked. "She didn’t go looking for you?!"
- She had deliberately given Adriana the card with that small amount of money to make her think that she really wanted to send her away. Yet, Adriana still didn’t go look for Jack?
- "No. Olivia, I’m going back now. We’ll talk about this later." After Jack finished speaking, he abruptly ended the call.
- "Argh!" Olivia angrily threw her phone onto the bed. She was so furious that her teeth almost cracked from clenching them.
- If Adriana didn’t die, she would never have a chance to enter the Kingsley family!
- Just now, Raymond had contacted the great master who had helped the Kingsley family find suitable candidates for Sebastian. The master had said that there were only three people in the entire country who were compatible with him.
- Aside from Adriana and another girl from Ashbourne City, there was one more ugly girl who was born with a disability. But the girl from Ashbourne had a weak heart, and if she couldn’t find a suitable heart donor soon, she would die within a year.
- In other words, if the Kingsley family wanted to ensure that Sebastian made it past his 28th birthday safely, without Adriana, Olivia would be their best option.
- Could it be that Adriana had discovered something?
