Chapter 14 Proving Herself

  • There was absolute silence throughout the classroom. It was so quiet that you could even hear the sound of air-conditioning drops.
  • Isla looked at Adriana’s back with concern. The university entrance exams were just around the corner, and it was unwise for Adriana to challenge her teacher at this time.
  • Although students from this school were favored by the top universities, none of them appreciated troublesome students. If her actions were recorded in her file, wouldn’t that significantly lower her chances of getting into a good university?
  • Adriana had always been a well-behaved student who never caused any trouble. The fact that she was now losing her composure and challenging her teacher like this made it clear that this matter had really crossed her bottom line.
  • "Done." Fifteen minutes later, Adriana put the chalk back on the teacher's desk.
  • “Damn, this is too impressive!”
  • “Miss Pembroke’s face has turned green, hahaha! Even a rabbit would bite if it’s constantly forced into a corner."
  • "So Adriana is really smart? Then why doesn't she try to improve her grades and get into Class One?"
  • Various voices erupted from her classmates, making the room buzz with chatter.
  • Sylvia also stared at her in shock. If Adriana could answer all six questions correctly without referring to a textbook, why was her chemistry grade always stuck at a C, and she didn't seem interested in fighting for a higher score?
  • After calming herself, Sylvia spoke lightly. "I’ve misunderstood you. I'm sorry. You can go back to your seat.”
  • “I accept your apology.” Adriana smiled at Sylvia and went back to her seat.
  • It wasn’t that she didn’t want to improve her grades, but she couldn’t.
  • Olivia’s grades were excellent, and Raymond had been grooming her to become a scientist, particularly in the field of weapon development. During her first year, he had already decided which university she would attend in the future.
  • The human desire for personal gain was never-ending.
  • There was only one way for the Hudson family to rise to the upper echelons, and that was for their daughter to be so outstanding.
  • Adriana was only an adopted child, which was why she had always kept her grades average and never competed with Olivia for the top spot.
  • But in the future, she would never let that happen again.
  • "What did I just see?" One of her classmates began to ask before the others chimed in.
  • Adriana pretended not to hear them and calmly pulled out her study materials.
  • "Let’s move on to the next question." Sylvia tapped her knuckles on the desk to get the students’ attention and continued the lesson.
  • The classroom gradually became quiet. Isla turned around and secretly gave Adriana a thumbs-up.
  • Once the anger of a well-behaved person reaches its peak, its impact can be likened to a nuclear explosion.
  • From the photos on the screen, everyone assumed that Adriana had really cheated during the exam. In the end, she not only knew the answers to these questions; she also knew everything. She didn’t even need to refer to a textbook.
  • Adriana smiled back at Isla before turning her attention to the blackboard in front of her.
  • Olivia was in Class One, and her classroom was located upstairs, right next to the reading room and the administration office.
  • She must have arrived at school very early this morning to carry out her plan. First, she fiddled with the big screen system, then started spreading rumors, thinking Adriana wouldn't show up again.
  • Adriana didn’t know what Jack had told her, but none of that mattered. What was important was how she would fight back.
  • As soon as chemistry class was over, Adriana left Isla in the classroom and hurried to the teachers’ office, panting. She wanted to borrow Tristan’s computer to carry out her plan.
  • He was the only teacher at this school who was the best to talk to and ask for help.
  • "Just a moment, okay?" Tristan narrowed his eyes with a smile before getting up and leaving.
  • Adriana thanked him and sat down in his chair. Luckily, his desk faced away from the window, so no one could see what she was about to do.
  • His computer was already logged into the school system, which made her task easier. She clicked on the mouse and quickly manipulated the system to gain access to the surveillance footages. She then searched for footage of the abandoned gym behind the school and saved it to her cloud before clearing her tracks and heading back to the classroom feeling refreshed.
  • "Riana~." Isla suddenly approached her in the hallway and held her arm with a smile. In a teasing tone, she asked, "Which teacher is looking for you this time and asking you to solve the exam question?"
  • "No, I went to find Mr. Graves because I have something to discuss with him." The corners of Adriana’s mouth lifted slightly into a thin smile, "Luckily we don’t have Physics today. Otherwise, I’d have to decipher trees using physics concepts!"
  • Isla immediately let out a small laugh.
  • As they walked back to class, they suddenly heard...
  • "Adriana!!!" Olivia’s voice suddenly sounded behind them.
  • When Adriana turned around and saw her, she immediately pretended to be scared and stepped back to hide behind Isla. Then she rushed towards Olivia with reddened eyes and hugged her tightly. "Sister! I’m so scared! Someone tried to kidnap me yesterday!"
  • Olivia: "...."
  • Isla: "..."
  • “Sis, please don’t tell Mom and Dad about this. I don’t want them to worry.” After crying for a few seconds, Adriana let go of Olivia and showed her right hand, which was bruised. “Look at my hand. It hurts so much.”
  • Olivia clenched her teeth tightly. At that moment, she wanted nothing more than to rip Adriana to her death! “Who tried to kidnap you?”
  • Adriana wiped her tears and calmly said Jack’s name.
  • “Impossible!” Olivia immediately looked at Adriana with a flustered expression. Her back began to feel cold. “You must have seen it wrong.”
  • Adriana had changed so much. If this were the past, she would have just cried to her like a good-for-nothing. There was no way she would say such misleading words.
  • Jack was a former student of this school, and he had once been a good and most popular student. His relationship with Olivia had been very close. Not only did the junior male and female students and her classmates know about it, but even the teachers at the school were aware.
  • Adriana had said in front of so many people that Jack had tried to kidnap her. Could anyone guess that she was the mastermind behind the kidnapping?
  • Olivia quickly glanced around nervously.
