- "Grandpa, what's going on?" exclaimed Emily while checking the breath coming out of Jake's nose, panic clearly on her face.
- "Help!" shouted Emily, but no one came.
- Emily put her ear to Jake's chest but got no response from the beating heart. Panic set in as she felt Jake's wrist, searching for a weak pulse. Her fingers trembled as she felt the absence of a pulse.
