• It was till midnight before I could finally get to the actual packhouse where she was staying with her parents. They had relocated and warned no one who knew where they were not to tell anyone.
• It was the measure taken to protect their only daughter in case Sophia ever comes to look for her. It was the hardest part of my journey to meet her, and at some point, I thought of giving up. I was making only a little progress in hours, worn out and hungry from the scorching heat of the sun, yet I was never giving up.
