  • The elevator doors slid open with a quiet hiss, the sterile brightness of the lobby doing little to warm the chill that wrapped around Clara. Her heels echoed against the marble floor as she strode forward, suitcase in tow, refusing to look back at the penthouse she was leaving behind. The doorman, who had once smiled warmly at her, now shifted awkwardly, sensing the tension in the air.
