• The next day, Avery’s case was officially decided. She was convicted of manslaughter, and because the circumstances were minor, she was sentenced to three years in prison with a suspension of execution for a period of three years.
• For Avery, this could be said to be the best result. She was released from court. As she walked out of the courthouse, a light drizzle started to fall from the sky. Holding onto an umbrella, Jake stood at the entrance of the courthouse.
