Chapter 8 College
- ~Mia~
- My eyes were wide open as soon as I woke up. If I were to guess how many hours I had slept, I’d say that it wasn’t more than four hours.
- After what I saw happen last night, I couldn’t bring myself to sleep peacefully. One time, I was thinking something was going on between my boss and me, something undeniable yet unspeakable.
- And the next minute, I saw his girlfriend, on her knees in front of him, pleasuring him, and he seemed to really like it considering the look on his face.
- Last night, I hid by the stairs on the second floor, taking a peek at whatever they were doing. I knew it was rude of me but I just couldn’t help it.
- The look of pleasure on his face as he was having fun made me unable to look away. I got so distracted that he ended up looking up the stairs while I was still there.
- I wasn’t sure if he saw me but I didn’t wait to find out, I ran to my room as fast as I could, hoping he didn’t.
- As if that wasn’t enough, I could hear her moans and screams coming from his room, making it impossible for me to sleep. I kept wondering if the sex was that good or if she was just being extra.
- I shut my eyes tightly and took a good long stretch. “It’s another day,” I muttered as I yanked the duvet away from my body. I picked up my phone and checked the time. It was 7 a.m.
- ‘It’s quite early.’ I thought as I wore my flip-flops and got out of bed. It was the weekend. The first weekend in Mr Cross’ mansion.
- ‘He wouldn’t be going to work today. How do I face him after last night?’ My heart raced as I stood in front of my mirror. My face slowly turned pale at the thought of it.
- ‘What if he asked me why I was watching them? What if he’s mad at me?’
- I began to slowly freak out and I tried to make up answers to my cooked-up questions.
- I dragged my feet to my closet to choose the outfit of the day when I heard a large splash from outside my window.
- I took long strides towards my large window and looked out to see Mr Cross in the pool, swimming underwater. My eyes scanned the whole pool area to see if she was there, but she was nowhere to be found.
- ‘Did she leave already?’ I asked myself, moving closer to my window to get a better look at Mr Cross as he skillfully swam.
- My window was the size of a door, so I could see whatever was going on below pretty clearly.
- He swam to the other side of the pool without raising his head out of the water, and then, he turned around swiftly and headed back toward the direction where my window was.
- The water was so clean and clear that I could see his broad muscular back and his legs moving like he was a merman. It was like he was in the Olympics.
- ‘How can a man be so good at almost everything?’
- However, the thoughts of him being mad at me for last night washed over me again and I became sore. ‘He seems to be enjoying himself though, I don’t think…’
- “Fuck!” I jumped away from the window as he suddenly raised his head out of the water and looked in the direction of my window.
- ‘He saw me.’
- “Fuck.” I cursed in a low tone this time, my heart beating rapidly against my chest.
- “I should just go and apologize,” I muttered to myself as I did a little pace in front of my bed.
- I went ahead to clean up for the day, and I wore a casual outfit. Blue jeans and a basic black top. While I was busy preparing, I could still hear him by the pool.
- I took a peek at him before heading out of the room and I saw he was out of the pool already, with a towel wrapped around his waist. He was relaxing on the sun lounger, and it seemed like he was on a phone call.
- I thought of it as the best time to approach him with some nice fruit juice. I hurried out of my room and walked to the kitchen.
- I made some fresh orange juice and placed the glass on a tray before heading to the pool. I carried the tray carefully, taking slow steps. The last thing I wanted was to provoke him even more.
- Immediately I stepped out of the house to the pool area, he looked in my direction. I clenched my jaws tighter at every step I took closer to him.
- I tried judging his mood from his facial expression, but he looked cool and calm like he always looked. ‘Maybe I was just overthinking,’ I thought to myself, forcing out a feeble smile.
- “I’ll call you later, Mother.” He uttered, moving the phone away from his ear.
- “Good morning, Mr Cross.” I greeted him, fighting the urge to look down at his heavily tattooed chest.
- “Morning, Mia. Did you sleep well?” He asked with a grin, and this immediately melted my heart and made me very relieved,
- “I think I did,” I responded, placing the tray on the side table.
- “Thank you. This is so thoughtful of you.” He said as he reached for the glass on the tray, causing him to sit up.
- I felt happy to hear him praise me again. ‘He isn’t mad at me after all. This is good.’
- “Do you want to sit?” He asked, pointing to the sun lounger next to him. I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to say no to that, so I just nodded and sat. “I hope I didn’t wake you up.” He further said.
- “What? No, not at all.” I shook my head.
- “That’s good. I saw you by your window. I thought the splashing and all woke you up.” He responded, and I lowered my head in embarrassment.
- “I was wide awake before that, Mr Cross,” I answered, and he nodded.
- An awkward silence followed my response and I began to fiddle my fingers. I really wanted to talk about last night. When he helped me fix my necklace and I felt his hardness press against my ass.
- ‘Did I make him hard?’
- My face turned red by the thought of this and I slowly ran my hand through my neck, trying to hide my embarrassment from him. How could I think about that when sitting next to him?!
- “Erm…” He broke the silence. “About last night. I’m sorry about that.” He uttered, and my eyes widened.
- “You’re sorry?” I asked in awe, and he nodded.
- ‘He is sorry? I never took offense at him at all! In fact, I shamelessly wanted more. And it would have happened if Miss Sienna hadn’t interrupted. Does he regret it?’ More thoughts filled my head as I stared at him.
- “You shouldn’t have seen us like that.” He replied, and I raised my eyebrows.
- “Oh…” I uttered in realization. He was apologizing about his lovemaking with Sienna and not what happened between us! I instantly felt excited and I shook my head.
- “No, Mr Cross. This is your house and you can do whatever you want. I wasn’t supposed to see you…”
- “But you did. Don’t worry, next time, we'll make use of the room.” He uttered with a grin, and I forced one out too.
- ‘Of course, there will be another time. What was I thinking?’
- “I’m sorry I saw you too,” I mumbled, lowering my head.
- “C’mon, it’s fine. It’s not like we were in a secret place or something. You don’t have to apologize.” He answered, and I went silent again.
- ‘So we are not going to talk about what happened between us?’ I wondered when I heard him speak up again.
- “What do you think about this college?”
- I raised my head and saw his phone next to my hand. I politely collected it from him and checked it out.
- “Prominent College.” I mouthed and he nodded.
- “Yes. The college is one of the best around here. Also, it’s the closest to the estate among the others. I have a few friends that work there that can help us out.” He explained, causing me to furrow my brows.
- “Help us out?” I asked in confusion, and he heaved a sigh.
- “How does going to college sound to you?” He asked, and my eyes popped wide open.
- “You… you want to send me to college?!” I couldn’t hide the shock and excitement in my voice.
- He chuckled and nodded. “I did my research and found out you went to high school.” He uttered.
- “Yes, I did. My Aunt Alexa sent me to school when I started to work at the clubhouse. I worked hard so she could pay my school fees. I graduated from high school two years ago.” I narrated.
- “Yes. I reached out to Alexa and she told me everything. I also reached out to your high school and I was told you were a very bright student. So, I thought, why can’t you just continue? I mean, that is if you like studying…” He stood up from the sun lounger and I followed suit.
- “I love studying!” I responded almost immediately. “I just never talked about it because I didn’t see how it was going to be possible when I’m working here.”
- “Well, you were wrong. It is very possible and we’re going to make it work. I’ll get everything you need from Alexa and the school and then, you can start college.”
- I couldn’t believe my ears. It seemed like a miracle. Mia, going to college?? That dream shattered when I graduated high school and my Aunt took my certificate and tore it into pieces in front of me. She firmly told me that that was the end of education for me.
- Tears rolled down my eyes as I stared at Mr Cross. He was going to make my dream come alive again.
- Without thinking, I moved closer to him and wrapped my arms around him, embracing him tightly and burying my head in his bare chest.
- “I don’t know how to thank you enough, Mr Cross. I don’t even know what to say. I’m overwhelmed.” I muttered against his chest.
- “You don’t have to say anything if you don’t know what to say,” He responded, his hands stuck to his sides.
- All of a sudden, I came back to my senses and disengaged from him. “I’m so sorry, Mr Cross. I shouldn’t have…” I stuttered.
- “It’s okay. I’m not complaining. You can do that anytime you want.” He responded, and I raised my head in surprise. Our eyes locked and he let out a soft, angelic smile.
- ‘I can do that anytime? Do you want me to fall in love with you, Mr Cross?’
