Chapter 7 Most Beautiful Thing
- ~Ethan~
- We began to wash the dishes together, she washed with soap and I rinsed with water. The only noise that could be heard was that of the running water and breakable plates.
- Though the kitchen wasn’t completely silent, I wanted to hear something from her. I wanted to hear her voice. But I knew that would be impossible if I didn’t start up a conversation.
- “So…” I uttered out of nowhere, giving her a jump scare. The plate in her hand slipped off and smashed into the floor causing a loud noise.
- The glass shattered all over the kitchen floor and she instantly fell to her knees to start picking up the pieces.
- “I’m so sorry, Mr Cross. I…” I moved closer to her and hastily grabbed her by the arm, lifting her from the floor.
- “There can be glass anywhere. You could injure yourself.” I uttered, moving her away from the spot. I looked at her legs and realized she didn’t even have flip-flops on. “Stay back. I’ll take care of it.” I added.
- “I’m so sorry, Mr Cross. I didn’t mean to.” She further apologized, fear sipping through her shivering breath.
- “I know you didn’t. Who would intentionally smash a plate? It was my fault… speaking up like that.” I walked to where the brush and dustpan were and picked them up.
- “I can do…” She moved closer, but I stopped her.
- “I told you I’ll take care of it, okay? Your legs are bare, you could step on them.” I responded and began to sweep the shattered glasses as carefully as possible.
- “You’re… you’re not mad at me?” She stuttered, fiddling her fingers anxiously.
- “What? Of course not, Mia. Anyone can make this mistake. Trust me, I have a couple of times. It’s all good.” I replied with a smile, and she gulped hard and slowly nodded.
- She refused to move an inch as she watched me sweep all of the glasses on the floor.
- “Do you see any left?” I asked, skimming the floor.
- “No, sir. I think you got all of it.” She responded, and I nodded in agreement.
- “That’s good. The last thing I need is for you to step on one. Why aren’t you in your flip-flops anyway?” I asked as I disposed of the item in the dustbin.
- “I am yet to get used to it, sir. I forgot to wear them.” She responded and when I looked back, she was at the zinc already, finishing up the remaining plates.
- “You should get used to them to avoid injuring yourself on days like this. You can’t be so sure a plate won’t slip off your hand another day,” I responded, trailing my fingers on the center cabinet as I walked back to where she was.
- “I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again, Mr Cross.” She answered with a firm tone. I knew how much she regretted it. It was best to stop talking about it.
- “So, what did John give you?” I asked, staring at the white bag on the cabinet, right next to me.
- “I have yet to find out, sir.” She answered, looking at me. It seemed like she was almost done with the dishes.
- I slightly nodded and stared at the bag again. ‘What could be in there?’ As much as I was aware that it was none of my business to find out, I couldn’t shake off my curiosity.
- ‘What if John got her underwear? It’s not something out of reach for someone as dumb as my friend.’ I thought, still staring at the bag.
- “I can check it out now.” Her voice sounded closer and when I looked up I saw she was standing near the cabinet already. She was done washing the dishes.
- “Oh, you don’t have to. Even though, deep down I’m hella curious about what is inside.” I uttered with a chuckle.
- She smiled widely and took the bag. She looked into it as she pulled out another silky bag, it seemed to hold a small box.
- ‘A jewelry?! Motherfucker!’ I yelled in my head as she pulled out the box.
- “It’s a box.” She uttered and when she opened it, her jaw dropped and her eyes widened in awe. She looked up at me and turned the box towards me so I could see what was in it.
- It was a beautiful gold necklace with a moonstone pendant. “Wow,” I muttered, and she looked at it again.
- “It’s so beautiful. The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” She winced happily, and I kept on a feeble smile, clenching my jaw.
- ‘Most beautiful thing? Why didn’t I get any jewelry for her? It completely slipped my mind!’ I thought, staring at her. She looked at me and I saw the smile on her face slowly fade away.
- “I’m sorry. I should have asked if I could keep it.” She muttered, carefully placing it on the cabinet.
- I scoffed and shook my head. “C’mon, Mia. It’s yours. Why can’t you have it?”
- “Well… you said that Mr John can’t buy things for me without your consent.”
- “He got this one already. It’s yours. Moreover, it is going to look very beautiful on you. You should try it on.”
- “I should?” She asked excitedly and I nodded, grinning too.
- She happily and carefully pulled out the necklace from the box and put it around her neck. She struggled to hook it together for some seconds while I watched.
- “Ermm… let me help you with that,” I uttered, walking closer to where she stood.
- “Thank you,” She said, giving the necklace to me. I took it and firmly held onto the clasp. I stood behind her as she lifted her hair.
- Placing it on her neck, my nostrils were filled with the scent of the shampoo in her hair. I clenched my jaws as I breathed in hard.
- She smelled so good. Instead of helping her with the necklace, I moved closer to her to sniff her better, bending my head to get to her head because she was shorter.
- My eyes fell shut as I inhaled more scent from her hair. For a minute, I forgot why I was standing behind her.
- “Your hair smells so good,” I muttered, reaching for her hair. I looked to the side and slowly tucked her hair behind her ear and her hands slowly let go of her hair.
- “I… I used the shampoo you got me.” She uttered in a low tone as she began to fiddle with her fingers again.
- “I’m glad I got it,” I responded before taking a step backward. I clenched my jaws and looked away from her. I was yet to help her wear the necklace.
- “Let’s go to the living room. We should wear it in front of the mirror.” I said to her, and she nodded, making her way out of the kitchen.
- I followed behind her and I fought so hard not to look down at her backside. But it was almost impossible. I took a glance and quickly looked away.
- I didn’t want to sexualize her. In fact, I didn’t want her to see me like the men who regularly visit her Aunt’s clubhouse, but sometimes, it’s just so hard to ignore how beautiful and perfect she was.
- We got to the front of the mirror and she raised her hair again. She lowered her head as she tried to avoid my unwavering gaze at her through the mirror.
- I placed the necklace on her neck and didn’t hesitate to clasp it. “I knew it was going to look very beautiful on you. Gold is your color.” I uttered, looking at her through the mirror.
- She raised her head to look at the necklace and I saw a wide smile light up her face. “It’s so beautiful.” She muttered, before raising her eyes to look at me.
- Our gazes locked through the mirror and we remained in that position for a moment. “You’re so beautiful,” I uttered, looking away from the mirror, but still keeping my gaze on her.
- I slowly ran my index finger on her bare neck, tracing where the necklace was. I heard her breathe out loudly, causing me to look into the mirror again.
- She slightly tilted her head backward, her head almost resting on my chest. It seemed like she was telling me to continue whatever I was doing.
- I lowered my head and stared at her cute ear. “What is left is a cute earring to match,” I whispered against her ear, and her lips slightly parted as my lips slightly grazed her.
- “Mr Cross…”
- “Ethan.” I further whispered, cutting her off.
- “Ethan, I…”
- The sound of the door opening and closing cut her short and we both looked in its direction.
- “Baby! Guess what?!” We suddenly heard Sienna’s voice from the entrance and I hastily moved away from Mia.
- Mia hurriedly let down her hair and adjusted herself as she took long strides to the stairs.
- “Sienna? I thought you were heading to your Mom’s.” I uttered, gulping hard as she came into sight.
- “Well, after I drove out of the estate, she called back to ask where I was. I told her I was with you and she ruined the fun. You wouldn’t believe she told me to come back to you and whatever she had to tell me can wait.” She uttered with a wide grin, wrapping her arms around my waist.
- “Really? That’s a surprise.”
- “Sometimes, I forget how much my mother likes you and loves us being together. So, after the call, I drove back here because why not? I was more than excited to come back to you, my baby.” She added, and I smiled.
- “I’m glad you’re back too,” I replied, taking a glance at the stairs.
- “Are you sure? You didn’t exactly look excited to see me.” She pouted, planting a kiss on my lips.
- “That is because I was shocked. I wasn’t expecting you to come back. In fact, I was going to call you to ask you if you’d gotten home.” I answered.
- “Well, I’m back! Let’s continue from where we stopped before dinner.” She uttered with a wide grin, kissing my lips again.
- This time, it wasn’t just a peck, but a deep kiss. Her hand rapidly moved in between my legs and when she touched my manhood, she broke the kiss.
- “What?!” She grinned widely. “You’re hard already? Is that how hungry you are for me?” She asked in disbelief, and I shrugged.
- “What do you think? It’s been a while,” I responded with a faint smile looking up the stairs again. “Let’s go to the bedroom,” I uttered, and she shook her head, unbuckling my belt and pulling down my pants.
- She went on her knees in front of me, keeping eye contact.
- “Let’s start here.”
