Chapter 4 Miss Goody-two Shoes

  • “How dare you touch my wife” His voice boomed, chilling the atmosphere and everywhere went pin-drop silent.
  • Elena was busy trembling on the floor with a bruised face, so he helped her up first.
  • “Who did this to you?” He asked calmly, but she could see the wrath in his eyes.
  • If looks could kill, he could have killed millions of people with the glare he sent the diva who was already drowning in his gorgeous appearance.
  • Her eyes seemed to lit up with his gaze on her like she was studying who the hot and perfect man was to the lady she had just insulted.
  • “Hi I’m........ she choked on her words as he shot her a murderous stare.
  • “Where’s your manager? You’re all getting fired for this and you.......” He uttered with gritted teeth.
  • “We’re so sorry Mr Walton, we didn’t know she was your wife.” The redhead pleaded while the security team fidgeted.
  • They must have recognized him as one of the big shots that ruled the business world.
  • For all they feared, he could ruin their lives with a snap of his fingers.
  • “Please let’s leave. I’m fine, and I just want to go home.” She cajoled him, as his jaw clenched in rage, but he took one look at her puffy eyes and his heartbeat normalize.
  • The whole staff of the boutique along with the security that dragged her earlier all lined up with bowed heads.
  • “We’re sorry Mr Walton.” They said in unison.
  • But he didn’t bat an eyelid and hugged her warmly while she sobbed.
  • “Don’t apologize to me bastards.” He cussed.
  • Pulling away from her, he gave her a reassuring look.
  • “Apologize to Mrs Walton.” He ordered, and she felt her world spin out of control.
  • “We’re sorry Mrs Walton!” They chorused again.
  • She didn’t read much meaning to being his contract wife at first, but now that he was addressing her like his real wife it made her feel unworthy.
  • Being a nanny was what she deserved. Not this grand life among the big bad rich people of his world.
  • “Mr Walton. I apologize on behalf of my incompetent staff. This will never happen again.” A scrawny looking man pleaded as he rushed out to them.
  • He was dressed in a different uniform from the rest of the staff.
  • “Manager Fred, I checked it out, the cam was tampered with and the actual thief who framed Mrs Walton is her.” A security guy pointed and everyone’s eyes followed his motion only to land on the diva.
  • Their shocked stares fixed on her, especially those who witnessed her slap Elena.
  • Even Elena was no different, as she wondered how someone this cruel could pretend so well.
  • The diva was such a great actor that she almost applauded her for a job well done.
  • “So you put the dress in my bag when I wasn’t looking? What did I ever do to you?” Elena asked, hoping the diva would feel remorse for her bad deed, but she only smirked with no trace of guilt.
  • “What are you waiting for, Fred? Arrest the goddamn woman unless you can kiss your job goodbye.” He turned to Fred, who flinched before bobbing his head in agreement.
  • “Cuff her.” Fred ordered, and two guards appeared to grasp her arms.
  • “Such a crafty witch, she had us all fooled.” The redhead cussed while the rest nodded in agreement.
  • “Let’s go. I’ll have Kent deal with them.” he said.
  • Taking her hands in his, he led the way out of the store while she trotted trying to match his steps.
  • “You’ll be arresting your sister-in-law, Mateo Walton. I’m Ivy, Isabel’s sister. You must not recognize me!” The diva shouted suddenly, making him halt.
  • For the first time in five years she saw his face turn numb in alarm, but he got over it quickly.
  • “Do you really know her?” She asked.
  • Praying to the heavens that he would say no, and they would hurry out of there and forget all that happened like a bad dream.
  • But, he threw down her hands and she felt naked against the world.
  • “Let her go. She’s coming with me.” He uttered, going over to take Ivy from the security men.
  • Like everyone else, Elena looked dismayed at the twist of his attitude as he abandoned her to go get the diva he had wanted to kill minutes ago.
  • “I’ll handle her myself.” He said to the stunned Manager over his back as they went past her. Ivy winked at her.
  • “You. Let’s go.” He called, and she could swear his tone went from care to irritation.
  • But she had no choice than to walk behind them and when they got to the car, he opened the front seat for Ivy, who hopped in, not caring if she might get kidnapped.
  • “Don’t just stand there. Get in.” He rasped when he noticed her frozen form.
  • Contract or not, she was his wife, so how could he let a total stranger sit in the front, especially after being humiliated by her.
  • “I can take a taxi from here.” She frowned.
  • He turned to give her one hard look.
  • “You’re coming with me. Now hurry up.” He commanded and took a U-turn to the driver’s seat.
  • She wanted to argue and refuse to be in the same space with her enemy.
  • Yes, Ivy was now her enemy after that unforgettable humiliation.
  • Yet she knew disobeying Matteo was out of the question, so she reluctantly entered.
  • Their drive home was silent with Ivy’s eyes glued on him like she craved to cast a love spell on him.
  • While he only focused on the road and didn’t spare Ivy a glance, he watched Elena from the rearview mirror.
  • But he didn’t utter a word.
  • Knowing her boss, his silence was more dangerous than his words, so her heart pounded in fear of his next move.
  • Driving to a stop at the Mansion’s garage, he got off and hurled Ivy out of the car.
  • Quickly pinning her neck to the wall with a deadly look, he gnashed his teeth.
  • “Who are you? Who paid you to say those things you bitch, did you think I believed anything you said? ...... he smirked dangerously “If not for those crazy paparazzi hiding among the crowd, I would have slit your throat for calling Isabel’s name on those rotten lips of yours.” He threatened while she winced in pain holding onto his hand for her life.
  • “You’ll strangle her. Please control your anger.” Elena pleaded, hovering around them like a mother hen.
  • “Get inside, Selena,” He said, tightening his grip on Ivy and she squealed.
  • Looking for any word that could distract him, she corrected.
  • “I’m Elena.......
  • “Now.” He ordered.
  • She was supposed to flinch and run off as usual, but her eyes met Ivy’s begging eyes now filled with tears.
  • And she remembered how Ivy had defended her at the store.
  • It had made her feel so grateful because no one had ever defended her like that and no one was perfect either.
  • “She has proof!”
