Chapter 9 Screaming Like a Pig

  • Juliet pushed open the door and walked in.
  • She didn't like the twins, but to appease them, she forced a smile. "Sophie, Fabian, Mommy's here to see you."
  • Fabian and Sophie were sitting on the wool carpet. Hearing Juliet call herself "Mommy" sent a shiver down their spines.
  • Even though Leonel had acknowledged this woman as their mother, they just didn't like her, not one bit.
  • Fabian's dark eyes gleamed mischievously as he thought of a plan.
  • "Can you come over here for a moment?"
  • Juliet didn't know what Fabian was up to but walked over to his side anyway.
  • "I have a very precious thing I want to show you."
  • Fabian's usual devilish side was nowhere to be seen, instead, his chubby face beamed with an innocent smile.
  • Seeing Fabian's guard lower, Juliet decided to seize this opportunity to get closer to him. She spoke softly, "Sure, let me see what this precious thing is."
  • Fabian brought out his hand from behind his back. Wrapped around his wrist was a pure white snake, slowly coiling and flicking its red tongue.
  • "This is my pet, Alba."
  • As if responding to Fabian's introduction, Alba's amber eyes locked onto Juliet, and its tongue flicked even more energetically.
  • The moment Juliet realised it was a snake, she was terrified and took several steps back.
  • "Take it away! Get it away from me! Don't come near me!"
  • Juliet had been bitten by a snake as a child and was deathly afraid of them.
  • Fabian stroked Alba's head and deliberately took a few steps toward Juliet.
  • "Sophie and I both love this little white snake. If you're scared, then you shouldn't stay here."
  • Sophie couldn't speak, but she nodded in agreement with Fabian's words.
  • Juliet glared at the twins who were clearly trying to antagonize her. She felt a surge of anger and frustration, wanting to slap them. But thinking about the consequences, she held back.
  • "I am your mother! You're being too much!"
  • With that, Juliet stormed out of Fabian and Sophie's room, fuming.
  • Fabian played with his pet snake, Alba, and said with frustration, "This woman is so useless! Alba scares her that much? What was Daddy thinking when he chose her?"
  • Sophie nodded, her mind drifting back to the woman she met at the airport.
  • She wished she could change mothers; that woman was the one she considered her real mommy.
  • ...
  • At eleven o'clock that night, Leonel returned home.
  • Luis reported that Juliet had visited Fabian and Sophie.
  • "How long did Juliet stay this time?"
  • "A bit longer than usual, a full fifteen minutes."
  • "I see. You can go now."
  • Leonel loosened the buttons on his shirt, revealing his chiselled jawline and collarbone.
  • Six years ago, he had been poisoned with Lupine Bane by a rival pack. His wolf, Felix, had sacrificed himself to protect Leonel, leaving him grievously wounded.
  • Using his last bit of strength, he had fled to the Eclipse Hotel. Just as he was about to lose consciousness, he caught a unique scent of roses.
  • He swore he had never smelled anything so wonderful. Just breathing it in seemed to heal his injured body.
  • Every cell in his body had screamed to possess the woman who carried that scent.
  • Completely overtaken by desire, he had pulled her into the room and pinned her beneath him.
  • He was utterly captivated by her youthful yet alluring body and became addicted to her scent.
  • Even as she whimpered like a small animal beneath him, begging him to stop, he had ignored her pleas and claimed her fiercely ...
  • Later, he found out that the woman was Juliet. That night, she became pregnant with their children—Fabian and Sophie.
  • Strangely, when Juliet came to him with the children, he felt nothing for her.
  • It was the same face, the same person, even the same rose scent, but he had no interest in Juliet anymore.
  • For the sake of the children, he initially considered making Juliet the Luna of the Scarlet Veil Pack, but whenever he had that thought, a voice in his mind would stop him.
  • Although faint, Leonel knew it was Felix's intention.
  • Since he felt nothing for Juliet, he now only saw her as the mother of his children, nothing more.
  • At this moment, he was not concerned about Juliet. He was more interested in Elsie, who had turned him away earlier that morning. Thinking of her, he called Jared.
  • "Jared, how's it going with Elsie?"
  • "She's still working. I heard she's handling a dismemberment case, and it's a lot of work," Jared reported truthfully.
  • Leonel glanced at the clock on the wall and said, "In my name, send her some supper."
  • Jared was stunned and couldn’t help but say, "Sir, this woman doesn't appreciate your kindness, and yet ... "
  • Leonel interrupted coldly, "Since when did you start telling me how to do things?"
  • Jared quickly responded, "I wouldn't dare, Sir. My apologies."
  • After hanging up, Jared went to arrange the supper for Elsie.
  • Leonel stood up and moved to the large floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the blooming white roses in the yard.
  • He didn't care how difficult Elsie was or how much effort it would take. He only cared if she could help cure Sophie's mutism.
  • To Leonel, the thought of his beloved daughter being unable to speak or call him "Daddy" for the rest of her life was unbearable.
