• Destin drops me onto the bed beside Charlie. He doesn't say a word. Instead, he places Arabella's book in his bag and begins removing his clothes. He rips his belt through the loops on his jeans so quickly that it makes me jump. I open my mouth to explain myself, but the look in his eyes makes me shut it quickly.
• He stalks toward the bed with his belt in his hands, and a lump forms in my throat. I glance at Charlie, but I don't think he will be saving me.
