Chapter 5 She Will Return

• “Only when the rooster crows can you leave. And remember, never take off your amulet!” Judith's warning echoed in my mind. The amulet she'd given me when I first arrived now felt heavier around my neck.
• A shiver ran through me, as if all the strange occurrences I'd been enduring finally had a chilling explanation.
• By the time I left Judith's house, dusk had fallen. From a distance, I saw a large crowd gathered in front of my home. The fortune teller was storming out of my mother-in-law's room, her face pale and her movements frantic.
