• "Oh, right. The seminar. Can I hand in my report a few days later?"
• Professor McNeilly mistakenly assumed that Celia was asking for an extension because she was upset over the false accusations online. So, she refrained from probing further and advised Celia not to dwell on it. Now that they had cleared things up, Professor McNeilly promptly dismissed Celia and went on to make some phone calls.
• When Celia left the office, she immediately found herself the subject of gossip wherever she went. If she were one to enjoy attention like a peacock, she would be positively relishing her situation now. Alas, she wasn't. Her alleged pregnancy made it seem as though an invisible spotlight was on her at all times. Therefore, she decided avoidance was the better part of valor and headed straight to her dormitory.
