Chapter 6 Give You Lots of Money
- Justin remained silent, a hint of barely noticeable disappointment flickering in his eyes. It's not her. Although the two of them smell very similar, there is still a slight difference.
- He let go of her with a frown, saying as if nothing had happened, "Get off at the next intersection, or I'll throw you out. Understand?"
- "Oh, I got it, sir. You really are a good person."
- Celia snapped out of her daze, feeling relieved in her heart.
- Just a moment ago, she thought she had come across a pervert. Fortunately, this guy did not do anything inappropriate, or she would definitely have been nauseated.
- Justin let out a chuckle. "I am not a good person. Remember to pay the fare when you get off later."
- "What?"
- Only then did Celia recall that in her haste just now, she had promised to pay him lots of money for the ride. But where am I supposed to get the money? I left my money and phone in the suitcase when I was in a hurry just now. What's more, my offer to pay lots of money was just a spontaneous plea for help. Where could I possibly get lots of money now?
- "Um, sir, can we possibly make a deal…" Celia forced a smile, looking somewhat embarrassed.
- Justin raised an eyebrow. "What's the matter? You want to back out?"
- "Of course not!" she replied, waving her hands repeatedly to hide her guilty conscience. "I mean, can I pay you back later? You see, I ran off in such a hurry, and now I'm totally broke…"
- Justin was lost for words.
- Celia's expression became even more embarrassed. "Sir, I won't start my senior year in university until after the summer break. Look, I'm just a student. My dad remarried right after my mom passed away, and I had my fiance stolen by my half-sister. After that, they heartlessly sent me abroad and stopped caring about me. And now, after I came back, they wanted to marry me off to a man in his fifties. I refused, so they took away my suitcase… You see, I'm really penniless. Could you please give me a grace period? Trust me. Once I get my suitcase back, I'll definitely repay you."
- Justin seemed amused by her explanation. "With your storytelling skills, you should be a scriptwriter. It'd be a waste otherwise."
- A touch of bitterness crossed Celia's heart. She wished that all these melodramatic events were just stories she made up, but the reality was that they existed.
- Feeling helpless, she had no choice but to say earnestly, "Anyway, I promise I'll repay you ten times the amount when the time comes."
- A hint of interest flickered in Justin's eyes. "How much is ten times?"
- "100 bucks. Do you think that's enough?" Celia asked hesitantly after a moment of thought.
- As soon as the words left her mouth, the driver in the front seat almost lost his grip on the steering wheel.
- Justin's expression froze. "Is that what you call a lot of money?"
- "It's already quite a lot. I've only been in this car for less than five minutes. With 100 bucks, I could have gone from where we were just now to the airport. I'm actually paying you more than I should!" Celia said, justifying herself.
- She had not traveled far. According to the normal starting fare of a cab, it would have been around ten to twenty bucks at most.
- "Do you really take my car for a taxi, trying to brush me off with just 100 bucks? Stop the car, Boris!" Justin instructed the driver with a grim expression. Obviously, he did not want to be seen as a source of cheap labor.
- Celia felt deeply embarrassed. For her, 100 bucks was already a lot. It would take her a whole day of work to earn that much.
- "Don't do it, sir," she continued with a smile. "How about this? Leave me your phone number. As soon as I get my suitcase back, I promise I'll transfer the money to you right away. Besides, a person like you shouldn't be lacking that bit of money. You can think of this as a good deed. My mom said that good deeds will always be rewarded. You're going to marry a wife who is both beautiful and kind."
- Listening to Celia's sweet talk, Justin couldn't help but feel amused. This woman… is really interesting.
- He couldn't help but tease her, "It's not that easy to owe my money. I want 1000! If you don't agree, I'll take you back to the hotel right now."
- Celia gasped, finding it hard to accept his demand. "1000? Why don't you just rob me instead?"
- "You don't want to? Fine. Boris, turn around," Justin calmly ordered the driver again.
- Boris Cole immediately replied, "Alright."
- Celia was instantly exasperated. Darn it! I got into an illegal cab! I've already said so many nice words, but this man still won't let me go. Are all capitalists so mean? What should I do now? Do I really have to go back to the hotel?
- She felt miserable at the thought of having to see Sylas' face again. It's only my second day back in the country, and nothing has gone smoothly. Misfortunes seem to be piling up on top of one another, as if the whole world were against me.
- The more she thought about this, the angrier she became. She couldn't help but feel tears welling up in her eyes. She said through clenched teeth, "Fine, I'll give you 1000!"
- "Not bad. You have guts," Justin replied with a smirk. He took out a pen from his pocket, held her wrist, and wrote down a string of numbers in her palm.
- His hand was big and warm, with pale and slender fingers and prominent knuckles. The numbers he wrote looked vigorous and graceful.
- Soon, a string of numbers with the word "Howard" at the end was written in her palm.
- Celia withdrew her hand, took a look at the numbers, and felt hurt. My 1000 is gone just like that! I thought I'd met a good Samaritan, but he turned out to be a robber!
- As she cursed inwardly, the car happened to stop at the second intersection. Boris dutifully stopped the car on the side of the road, indicating that Celia should get off.
- Celia was deeply frustrated. Simmering with resentment, she angrily swore, "What a scoundrel." Then, she got out of the car and slammed the door shut in frustration.
- Bang!
- The loud bang immediately displeased Justin, and his cold eyes instantly glared at Celia.
- Seeing this, Celia made a face at him on the spot. That's what you get for demanding an exorbitant price! After that, she ran off before the man could respond.
- Justin's eyes narrowed menacingly as he watched her disappear into the distance. What a bold lady, daring to throw a tantrum at me! She'd better pray we'd never meet again, or else…
- …
- Celia had never thought that her impulsive actions would bring her huge trouble. After getting out of the car, she walked aimlessly.
- Her suitcase was gone, and so was her money. After searching herself thoroughly, she only found the VIP card for Imperial Hotel.
- At the sight of the card, Celia felt even more annoyed. She casually threw it into the trash can on the roadside. However, thinking she might end up on the streets tonight, she turned back to pick up the card.
- She could not go back to the hotel, but the VIP card was worth a lot of money. If she could sell it, she would not have to worry about having nowhere to stay at night.
- At the thought of this, her mood lifted somewhat. After wandering aimlessly for over an hour, she slowly walked back to Imperial Hotel.
- Sylas was long gone by this time. Celia stood at the hotel's entrance, stopped a random person, and sold the VIP card for a cheap price.
- With the money from selling the card, she found a nearby hotel to stay in.
