Chapter 10 The Inevitable Fall Of The Yeager Family
- “Well? What do you think, Mr. Carrington?” Stephen asked with a playful smile that was intriguingly peculiar.
- To him, such enticing terms were something the average person would absolutely find irresistible.
- Unexpectedly, Huxley burst into hearty laughter. Without uttering another word, he ripped the check into tiny pieces and scattered them into the air. The shredded paper then slowly fluttered down, covering the floor.
- “You... This is an anonymous check for fifty million!” Stephen exclaimed in shock.
- Huxley abruptly stood up, expressing disdainfully, “Money? Women? Do you think I lack such things?”
- “I don't believe you're not the least bit moved. How about eighty million? Or even a hundred million? There has to be a price that will satisfy you! Just name it, and the Yeager family shall provide it!” Stephen said, his brows deeply furrowed.
- Huxley laughed. His laughter was brilliant, wild even. He clapped his hands together and said, “Bring me my wallet.”
- “Right away!” Jasper quickly turned around and dashed into the room. He then fetched a sleek, black briefcase and handed it over to Huxley.
- “Hmm?” Stephen looked at the briefcase, somewhat puzzled.
- “You think I'm broke? Look at what this is!” Huxley opened his briefcase, flipped it upside down, and its contents clattered out, scattering all over the floor.
- Surprisingly, they were all bank cards.
- Moreover, it wasn't just an ordinary bank card. It wasn't those cards with glimmering gold or shining silver coatings, nor those that were studded with diamonds and adorned with various intricate VIP logos.
- At first, Stephen was taken aback. Then, he lowered his head to take a closer look.
- It wasn't long before he realized something.
- “H-How is this possible?” he shrieked in fear and shock upon recognizing that all those cards were the highest level VIP cards from renowned banks around the world.
- For instance, Bank of Sumanthova's Orchid VIP Card, which was embellished with the symbol of an orchid. It was a privilege that only ten people in the world could own.
- For instance, the Black Lightning Supreme Card from Dreamstone Bank was something only those with a net worth exceeding ten billion were eligible to apply for.
- Owning any one of these cards could easily make one the envy of all, granting one enormous power all over the world, and yet, the person before him owned them all.
- Oh, my goodness!
- Stephen's mind was buzzing. He was utterly unable to process it all, and all he felt was absurdity.
- However, he was an experienced and knowledgeable man with keen eyesight, so he could unmistakably discern that these cards were not counterfeits. Each and every one of them were genuine.
- “W-Who are you, exactly?” Stephen struggled to lift his head to look at Huxley. It was at this moment that he realized something was amiss.
- Huxley didn't answer his question. His tone was icy cold as he said, “Money means nothing to me, and I couldn't care less about women! If I wanted women, a word is all it takes to have all the actresses from the film industry come crawling to me. If I desired, even royal princesses would beg me to take them in! And yet, you're trying to sway me with such trivial benefits? How absurd!”
- Upon hearing that, Stephen and the others naturally reacted with a mix of belief and skepticism, feeling that his statements were overly audacious.
- “Are you absolutely determined to oppose the Yeager family, Mr. Carrington?” Stephen asked through gritted teeth.
- “The Yeager family is doomed! Otherwise, I will never let the matter rest!” Huxley declared, brushing off his sleeves.
- “Mr. Carrington, why insist on a fight that will only have both parties suffer? Even the most powerful person cannot defeat a local bully! This is a fight you simply can't win!” Stephen said with a somber tone.
- He paused for a moment, then continued with a peculiar smirk, “Before I came, I had gathered some information. I heard that you first took out Neil, then wiped out Lorcan and his three sons, causing utter chaos throughout the city. Naturally, the authorities were furious and have already issued a Level Three warrant for your arrest. You're currently being hunted nationwide. No matter how capable you are, can you really go against the authorities? Now, here's the deal. The Yeager family holds significant sway in Quadfield, so we can leverage our connections to resolve this issue for you. Otherwise, you'll be left with no choice but to always be on the run, relentlessly pursued by the government day and night!”
- Huxley laughed when he heard that. “Are you threatening me?”
- Stephen chuckled. “Hehehe... We're just helping each other out.”
- “All right!” Huxley turned his head and shouted at Jasper, “Jasper, make a call and inquire about the warrant!”
- Taken aback by that order, Jasper's expression grew serious. Lowering his voice, he asked, “Should we alert the higher-ups? Won't it cause too much commotion and reveal your whereabouts?”
- “So what if my whereabouts get leaked? I want this case to blow up even bigger!” Huxley exclaimed.
- Jasper took a sharp breath as he realized his boss was truly enraged.
- “Understood!” Jasper hastily pulled out a phone from his pocket.
- This phone, a special custom design, was brimming with advanced technology and resembled a military-grade device.
- Beep! Beep! Beep!
- Jasper swallowed nervously, carefully pressing each digit on the keypad, terrified of making a mistake. He then distanced himself to make the call, unwilling to let others overhear his conversation.
- Seeing the situation, everyone was puzzled, unsure of what tricks Huxley had up his sleeve.
