Chapter 14 The Gala

• The finalists gala is the biggest event of the year.
• It’s held in the school’s main hall, which they decorate with white lights and flowers that must cost a fortune. Parents wear suits and dresses that cost more than my mom’s monthly salary. Donors come, the mayor sometimes comes, and the Gazette always comes to take photos.
• This year, there were ten finalists. Me, Weston, Duke, Maya, Jonah, and five others. We were all supposed to give a short speech about how the King’s Foundation changed our lives.
