• Ives’ voice was tinged with irritation and asked “What are you doing here if your heart is still at the funeral?” Penny looked at him the confusion evident in her eyes asked, “What do you mean, Ives?”
• Ives looked at her and replied, “Since you have arrived, you haven’t uttered a word to me. It seemed as if I forced you to meet my mother.”
• Penny was enveloped with sadness. She didn’t want to be there, but she didn’t have a choice because her future mother-in-law had already invited her relatives to meet her. She didn’t want to make her a laughingstock.
