Chapter 6 Unexpected Guest

  • (Present) • Jada •
  • "So! How was France?” Bambi asked as soon as I stepped inside the van that will drive us back to my condo.
  • Honey and I left our old units. We moved to bigger units after college but it’s still located in Quezon City.
  • It’s been three years since we graduated. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to apply what I learned, since I started modeling two years ago. I’m not that popular yet, but I’m starting to make a name for myself.
  • “Hmm… I met a lot of gorgeous lads~” I teased. I know that’s all Bambi is interested in.
  • “Damn you! I told you to take me along!” he lashed at me, envy evident in his tone. I can’t help but laugh.
  • “Yeah right, as if you can travel without a passport. Or maybe I can try to fit you into my luggage next time.”
  • Bambi frowned, “I suddenly remembered that thief!” he exclaimed, rolling his eyes and scratching his forehead.
  • He was referring to his most recent partner. They spent the night in his apartment and he got drunk. When he wakes up, the guy is gone along with her bag.
  • Aside from his bag, the guy also took his phone, two tablets, and all his jewelry, except for the ones he was wearing that time. That’s why he was furious, he lost a lot.
  • “If you weren’t a whore, that wouldn’t have happened to you,” I scolded him while picking on my nails.
  • Honey can’t help but giggle next to me. Edward, on the other hand, keeps glancing at me thru the rearview mirror.
  • “How are the hookups?” Bambi asked again, not holding back though he knows Edward is with us.
  • I paused for a few seconds, thinking, “I did, twice.”
  • Bambi gave me a long, eye roll, long enough that his eyes had gone all-white for a few seconds. He was pissed. “I hope you’ll get a boil on your nostril,” he cursed.
  • I laughed at him but I quickly stopped when I noticed Edward staring at me, so I turned my attention to him. “Did you miss me?” I asked in my most flirtatious tone.
  • “O-Of course,” he stuttered, scratching his nape as he was embarrassed.
  • I shook my head at him, “You shouldn’t, not yet. You should miss me when I’m back to the old me. For now, I’m not worth it,” I reminded him.
  • Edward frowned. I feel sorry for him too as he’s been trying to give subtle hints about his feelings for me since we’re in college. Unfortunately, I can’t give him anything in return.
  • Bambi was still frowning at me when we reached the condo. But that didn’t stop me from teasing him.
  • I can’t stop laughing at his reactions, as he looked like he was about ready to strangle me. however, my laughing stopped when I saw someone standing right outside my door.
  • Looking closely, the gorgeous man is actually standing outside my best friend's door. As we walk closer, I recognized the hottie. It was Kobe.
  • My eyes widened in shock then I pulled Bambi to a stop before whispering to him, “They’re back together?”
  • “You didn’t know?” he gasped and I nodded. “You were only away for four months and you’re not updated anymore?” I pouted at him, seems like my sources forgot to inform me about their reconciliation.
  • “Hi, Kobe!”
  • According to my sources, who happen to be my friends, Kobe is now the CEO of the company he put up with Lyken. Yes, they are partners.
  • They started their construction firm right after getting their licenses. After a few months, their company became popular and clients started pouring in.
  • Although both of them were born with silver spoons in their mouths, they still chose to work on their own. According to Kobe, it feels way better when they work for their fortune.
  • Makes sense!
  • I suddenly recalled, back then, I almost prayed for their business to fail because I was so mad at Lyken. I can’t help but chuckle.
  • Well, it's all in the past. Besides, Kobe has nothing to do with what happened between us. He has nothing to do with my personal issues.
  • “Hi!” he greeted back with knitted brows as if wondering how I happen to know him.
  • "Jerk! It's Jada!" slapping his arm and rolling my eyes at him. I was surprised when he suddenly hugged me. even Honey was shocked after seeing what her boyfriend did.
  • “Damn Jadakins! I didn’t recognize you at all!” he was being exaggerated.
  • I shook my head at him, “You’re overreacting,” I snapped and chuckled.
  • My hair is now short and my fashion style has improved. But aside from these, I don’t think I really changed that much physically. Not to the point that my friends won’t even recognize me.
  • But if we were to talk about the changes in my attitude, my behavior, then there’s a lot we need to discuss. That, I admit, changed a lot.
  • I became close with Kobe back in college. Since Honey is my BFF, I became his go-to person when they have a fight or if he wants to prepare surprises for her.
  • We then grew closer when I got into a relationship with his best friend, Lyken. Yes, Lyken became my boyfriend for three years. I was 18 then and he was 19.
  • But our story isn’t something worth sharing. Instead of calling it a love story, I’d rather call it a tragic story, even horror. That’s how ugly it was.
  • Kobe and I call each other by our first names +kins. This happened when we got so addicted to eating munchkins that it literally became our breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Back then, we would even share and fight over it. Thankfully Honey isn’t the jealous type. Maybe because she trusts me that much. She knows how much Kobe loves her and she knows who owns my heart… that time.
  • "How long has it been since we last saw each other? Two years? You’ve changed a lot! You look way, wayyyyyyy better than ever."
  • "And of course, I’m happy that you appreciate it!” I grinned before tugging at his earlobe.
  • He started whining and calling out for Honey, asking her for help. We just laughed at him while he scrunched his nose and frowned.
  • I opened my unit and as soon as I got in, I plopped on my couch, placing both feet on it’s backrest. I didn’t notice that Kobe and Honey followed me.
  • “What do you want for dinner, sis?” Honey asked.
  • “Let’s just have something delivered.”
  • The couple nodded in agreement. Bambi who was left outside also agreed. So it’s decided, we’re having our dinner delivered.
  • A few minutes after, Bambi came in straight to me, showing me the tablet where upcoming schedules are displayed on its screen. I looked at the screen, scanned it a few times before returning it to him.
  • “Are you trying to kill me, Manager?” I jest, narrowing my eyes at him. Honey creased her forehead at me, “Gig, as usual, Ireland next month,” I informed her.
  • Her eyes flicked over Bambi who suddenly looked tense. “I didn’t agree on anything yet. I was just showing it to you. Of course, the final decision will still come from you,” he quickly explained.
  • He knows well enough that Honey will scold him when he decides without consulting me. that’s how much my BFF loves me.
  • Honey doesn’t want me to overwork. Aside from being concerned, my parents also left me in her care before they migrated to the States.
  • “That’s good then, I’ll think about it,” pouting my lips. “It will depend on my hookups in the coming weeks,” I added.
  • Bambi’s eyes widened before slowly turning his head towards Kobe. I gasped as I forgot that he was there with us.
  • Even Honey rushed over to her boyfriend to cover her man’s ears. I can’t help but chuckle. “Yeah right, as if Kobe’s a minor and he can’t hear any profanities,” I snapped.
  • Honey laughed at me, “Sis, I just want to remind you in case you’ve forgotten. Kobe’s never met Jada 2.0, he might get the biggest shock of his life,” wriggling her eyebrows at me.
  • “O-M-G! I also forgot that Kobe hasn’t met the new Jada yet!” Bambi seconded. “He’s yet to meet the braver and fiercer Jadanela Cuevas! The pee-pee terrorist!”
  • “What the fuck?!” Kobe exclaimed.
  • “Calm down baby, let your nerves rest for a bit. I’m sure if you find out what Jada’s been doing since she became single, your blood will shoot up!” Honey commented.
  • Kobe glared at me. As I’m not ready to explain anything yet, I just shrugged at him, pretending to be innocent. Then I stood up to get water from the fridge.
  • “She can spit or swallow, but you’re not allowed to go in! That is Jada 2.0!” Bambi revealed.
  • Kobe’s eyes grew even bigger. If he wasn’t here, I would have strangled Bambi for being a blabbermouth.
  • “By the way, where’s the toasted bread?” I asked, pretending to be looking for our friend. But in reality, I was just trying to change the topic.
  • Bambi laughed, pointing a finger at me as a warning, “Don’t you dare call him that or he might kill you first even before Kobe could.”
  • Even I can’t stop myself from laughing whenever I recall the pictures Ada sent me. He got burnt literally after going on a vacation.
  • Last summer, he flew to Palawan for a 3-day vacation. As she wants to make the most out of it, she went sunbathing, at one in the afternoon and without sunblock applied.
  • The result is a burnt human with bikini lines and it was hilarious. When we scold him, he tried to dismiss us by saying that his natural color will quickly return.
  • However, it’s been six months and he still looks like an overcooked gingerbread man. That is why he’s so pissed whenever we talk about it.
  • “I still don’t understand where he got that much stupidity!” I exclaimed, trying my best to control my laughter.
  • Honey chimed in, “True, I don’t know too who he took after,” then she glanced at Bambi.
  • When our friend realized that we were teasing him, he scrunched his nose, “Byotches! Don’t me! I’m in no way as stupid as that toasted bread!” he snapped.
  • Honey and I burst into laughter. We can’t help ourselves though we can see that Bambi’s about to lose his patience already.
  • When we finally calmed down, Honey decided to call a restaurant and order our dinner. The stories keep coming while we were waiting for it.
  • Kobe also stayed, but he’s been quiet since Bambi and Honey told him about Jada 2.0. Hours have already passed but he looks like he’s still thinking about it.
  • Well, I can't blame him. He met the nice, friendly, and naive Jada. But that was me before the table turned. I've changed... a lot.
