Chapter 41 — Leave This House

• And the loud cries of my brothers howling sorrowfully into the full moon made my heart heavy. I don’t know how long I’ve been sleeping. I woke up feeling so tired and weak. I looked at how neat my room was, for the first time in weeks. Since I found out my brothers were my mates. My room became a wreck and a spot for cockroaches. Someone had cleaned it up, and it looked bright. Slowly got up from my bed, wondering how the others were doing. I motionlessly moved to the mirror in a daze. I turned my back to the mirror. Their marks had faded. But the red butterfly glimmered more than it was before.
• What is this supposed to mean? I thought. Once the bond gets broken, everything would fade. Why is this? — the door to my room opened? I wore my upper pajamas back to cover it up. I saw my mom coming in with a bowl of water.
