Chapter 8

  • Clara
  • Everyone was shut while Samuel looked extremely distressed with his right palm on top of his forehead. Although his intense fiery eyes were still on me, I returned it with a smirk.
  • “Well, it looks like you were in a lot of trouble and I wasn’t welcomed here at all.” I gracefully stared at each and every one of them, especially Alice who was burning in anger.
  • I turned my back and proceeded to leave the hall with a pleased face. This is just the beginning and yet everyone was too caught off guard.
  • Making my way back to my room, Donna was already back, excitedly asking me questions on how it went. Nothing, but satisfaction was all I could feel. But there was a part of me convinced that Samuel wouldn’t let me get away that easily.
  • The night began to set and I spent it inside my room. It seems that Samuel would let me get away with this one given that this is the day he’s waiting for—marrying his chosen Luna.
  • “I’ll get your sleepwear ready, Luna.”
  • I nodded at Donna before making my way to the bathroom. Just when I faced the mirror in front of me a sudden jolt of pain crossed my chest.
  • My body along with my face squirmed as an agonizing ache spread around my chest. There was too much pain that caused my knees to give up.
  • Voicing out for help was useless as no sound came out of my mouth. I tried caressing it, hoping it’d lessen the pain, however, it only became worse.
  • I felt my arms brushed up against something as I fell onto the ground. I had no idea what it was until it fell down with me. My ceramic glass made its way down, causing a loud cracking noise.
  • Shortly, Donna was already standing by the door of the bathroom. Shock and worry were written all over her face seeing me on the ground, wincing in pain.
  • “Luna!” She circled her arms around my back, helping me to stand back up. “What’s wrong?”
  • I gulped, still unable to speak when another strike of pain hit me through. While Donna seemed to see me struggling to speak, she gently pulled me with me until we reached the mattress where she helped me sit down.
  • She passed me a glass of water which made the pain subside a bit.
  • “There…” I began, taking a deep breath. “There was a sudden sharp pain in my chest, Donna. It was as if my heart was being burned with pain. It’s weird. A very different kind of pain.” I gave her a glance. Her eyes were pinned onto the ground as she nervously played with her fingers.
  • “Do you have any idea what that is?” I asked, seeing her avoiding my eyes.
  • Letting out a deep sigh, she looked back at me. “You perhaps didn’t know about it because you’re wolfless, but you should feel an unexplainable amount of pain whenever your mate is being intimate with another woman. It happens to hurt your chest, Luna.”
  • Slowly nodding, I began to understand it now.
  • Of course, tonight’s Samuel and Alice's first night after their wedding. They must be enjoying every minute now.
  • “I’m sorry, Luna.”
  • “Don’t be sorry, Donna. It’s not like I haven’t accepted it yet,” I bitterly chuckled.
  • Blowing out a sigh, the pain completely diminished.
  • I should accept it now as I can’t do anything. Their wedding just happened which only proves how much he truly wants to fulfill his words to Alice.
  • “Luna, I must admit that I thought you were faking everything, and deep inside you, you still care and love Alpha Samuel the same as before,” she admitted, forcing a smile. “I just find it absurd that you’re gonna let go of him that easily after enduring everything. Especially now that the chances of Alpha Samuel loving you back are bigger because your scar was completely gone.”
  • Hearing those from Donna made me think about it deeply. However, I didn’t have the same question for myself, but rather I had expected this already.
  • I may have just got tired.
  • “Don’t worry because believe me, Donna. I am not faking any of these. I had truly accepted it.”
  • Another set of pain rushed through. I heavily shut my eyes, waiting for it to recede on its own as doing something would be useless.
  • “The pain won’t stop until they stop. Aren’t you going to do something, Luna?”
  • I simply shook my head at Donna’s question.
  • What would I do? Come to their room and tell them to stop because I’m dying in pain? Knowing Samuel, I just knew he would even be glad to hear that.
  • This pain is nothing compared to what I had already suffered because of Samuel. I trust myself that I can go through it.
  • “I can do this,” I assured Donna who kept looking at me with worry.
  • Helping me cover half of my body with the blanket, I rested my head on the headboard when the wooden door rang with a knock.
  • “What is it that you need now?” Donna impudently started.
  • “Luna Clara,” a woman’s familiar voice echoes.
  • “She was about to sleep so you can just talk to her tomorrow morning.”
  • “No! The news I had cannot wait.”
  • “Well, I’m sorry, but it’s—”
  • “Let her in, Donna.”
  • Obligated, she opened the door wide. The same butler at the night I almost killed myself went in. She had a mocking expression on her face upon locking stares with me.
  • “Alpha Samuel wanted to see you.”
  • My brows arched with confusion. “Why?”
  • “He wanted you to serve him, specifically Luna Alice for their first night as a punishment for causing a scene at their wedding earlier.”
  • “Serve Luna Alice?! Impossible! She’s the ALpha’s first Luna and she’s his second,” Donna was the one who objected.
  • “This is Alpha’s order. No one can go against him,” she paused, shifting her scornful eyes back to me. “Even this his so-called first Luna.”
  • “No, Luna Clara has been in pain because of her, and now this?”
  • “Then, why don’t you come to Alpha Samuel and tell him this?”
  • “Oh, really?” Donna sneeringly challenged before stepping up to push the butler out.
  • “Yes, really!”
  • “Stop! You don’t need to argue,” I announced, making them both stop.
  • Donna looked at me with disbelief as she shook her head.
  • “If Samuel asks for it, then I’ll do it. Get my clothes back, Donna.”
  • “And you, tell Samuel I’m coming.” The butler then left.
  • “Luna, I’m sure you don’t need to do this. You have the authority to say no.” She walked back, holding my clothes.
  • “I want to do this,” I insisted.
  • It looks like I wasn’t wrong after all. He won’t definitely let what I did to their wedding ceremony a while ago that easy. Putting me through the torment of pain wasn’t enough that he plans on doing worse.
  • The only thing I could do in return is not to let them enjoy their first night at all!
