Chapter 7
- Clara
- I’ve tried thinking of any possible way to leave, but we must manage to make the guard leave first.
- What is it with me that Samuel feared my presence too much? It was as if he would allow me to object to their wedding that easily. Of course, he won’t! Alice was his beloved woman after all, whatever I do, their wedding will take place.
- Placing my fingers onto my temples, trying to think more ways when Donna walked up to me, crouching down to my ears, whispering, “I think I have an idea, Luna.”
- Donna suggested I wear my red dress paired with a red veil to cover my face as I don’t want to spoil the news right away.
- “Thank you for helping me,” I murmured while she put my veil in place.
- “Shut it, Luna. But please do me a favor and tell me Luna Alice’s expression when you get there.”
- We both laughed.
- “All right. Go, now, Luna Clara!”
- Not wasting a second, I stepped towards the bathroom. As soon as I heard Donna’s yelp for help, I shut the door of the bathroom and opened the faucet.
- “Help! Oh, my! Please, help!” Donna continued to scream painfully.
- I made sure to keep my ear pinned onto the door to hear whatever’s going on outside and if she’ll be able to successfully lure the guard out.
- “I sprained my ankle! You need to carry me into the infirmary right away.”
- “Where is Luna Clara?!”
- “She was bathing, don’t tell me you’re even gonna check it? Luna demands privacy.”
- “If I need to. I was tasked to make sure she will never leave her room.”
- My face crumpled in irritation. The guard was hard-headed and is truly loyal to Samuel. But I knew Donna would do everything.
- “Oh, please, you need to help me. What if this sprain turns out worse just because you hesitated to help me?”
- There was no response from the guard.
- “Luna Clara just got inside the shower and I’m sure it will take her a while to finish. Now, bring me to the infirmary and just come back here. Please…”
- That was the last thing I heard before the door shut. Slowly, I turned the knob on and stepped out of the bathroom, keeping the faucet on.
- My presence may not be welcomed at their wedding, and I had no idea about it. But Donna managed to know where it would be held.
- Holding my dress up as I use the stairs to reach the rooftop, the ceremony is yet to start.
- People around started to notice my presence because of the bright color of my dress, and not so long after they recognized me.
- “Isn’t that Clara?”
- “She’s here to ruin the wedding!” One of the old Pack elders yelled angrily, making everyone’s attention shift to me.
- I didn’t mind all of their words and ignored their sharp glare as I continued to walk down the aisle.
- Samuel’s head tilted towards the entrance. Upon locking eyes with mine, I gave him a sneering smile. His hands on Alice’s waist loosened before he walked aimlessly to me.
- His firm hand reached my wrist. Even without uttering a word, his dark face was enough to fill my satisfaction. At this point, I actually and truly didn’t care if I made him mad anymore.
- “Why?” I innocently asked. “I know I’m not invited but I think I have the right to attend, don't I? After all I am still your first Luna,” I sweetly added, averting my eyes to Alice.
- Her lips were tightly pursed together while her face turned red with the anger she was trying to hold. This is who she is. Acting all angelic and kind when there were many eyes around, watching her, but the truth is that she’s always been that greedy selfish woman.
- I was just about to give her a smile when Samuel’s grip on my wrist tightened causing me to slightly squirm in pain.
- He tugged me closer to him while his penetrating eyes pierced onto mine. “Why are you here? Don’t even think of doing anything to ruin this, Clara. I am warning you. I don’t know what I can do to you if you ever—”
- Placing my index finger onto his lips, the future threatening words that he was about to voice out were suddenly shut.
- “Don’t worry, I’m only here to congratulate you, my mate, and nothing else,” I whispered back.
- Pulling away from his grip, I looked around before loudly saying, “I’m happy for your second marriage, Samuel. That’s why I’m here to support you.”
- “Isn’t that amazing?” I looked back at him, smiling from ear to ear.
- My words made Samuel shut, but made everyone else begin to murmur.
- “She’s here for support, I doubt that.”
- “Yeah, she must have planned something.”
- As if those words from her own guests were poisoned to her ears, Alice outrageously grabbed her white halter wedding gown and moved forward to us.
- “How dare such a hideous woman like you ruin my wedding day!” She was all ready to attack me when Samuel made his way to our middle.
- “You think your veil can hide your awful face?!” But Alice insisted. “Then how about this,” she taunted.
- The next thing I knew, my veil was torn off while she held it with a proud smile on her face. But that evil look from her didn’t last longer as it was slowly replaced by horror.
- “Look! Her scar was gone!”
- “S-s-she’s so pretty! Even comparable to Alpha’s new wife.”
- “Woah…”
- The hall was filled with their amused voices and surprised eyes. Although I wasn’t planning on revealing my face that soon, Alice made my plans better.
- Even Samuel was surprised, and even though he immediately looked away as soon as I caught his stares, I could see the disbelief in his eyes.
- “No! What kind of witchcraft do you have?! Where did your scar go?!”
- Yes, that’s right. I want her to lose her mind just like what she had made me feel— that I am not always going to be enough.
- She got complacent, thinking I will always be nothing compared to her.
- Alice stepped onto the remaining spaces between us and didn’t hesitate clasping my face. “It’s just some kind of cosmetic, right?!”
- Samuel reached for her, pulling her away from me.
- “This woman is ruining our wedding! Samuel, do something.”
- Just when Samuel was about to speak, I cut him off, “Oh, and now, just like what everybody else does to me. Blame me for everything and make me look like the villain.”
- “What do you want? Because if you’re not here for something important, then I will have no other choice but to make you leave by myself.”
- “For the second time, Samuel,” I laughed. “I am here to congratulate you and Alice on your wedding. You won’t have the right to make me leave because it was your bride who caused the disruption and not me.”
- I pointed my index finger at Alice, shrugging. “She attacked me and even tore my veil off. She’s the one who’s ruining your wedding!”
