Chapter 4

  • ***ADRIANO'S POV***
  • Dragging my wife all the way to the warehouse is insane. But she did this.
  • Luca and Lorenzo, my kid brothers of two years each all have wide eyes as I pull Delta into the empty warehouse.
  • "Adriano please," she begs but I ignore her.
  • I can't believe this little wimp made me fall in love with her. I let my guard down and now, two of my gun shipments went down.
  • My brothers don't utter a word but I see that look of pity in their eyes.
  • I am the boss now and I don't want to let them down.
  • "Who did you sell me out to?" I ask her showing her the empty warehouse.
  • "I don't know what you are talking about," her eyes are red and her face pinched with hurt.
  • "I told you last night I dealt with guns and today, my goods went down. You did it Tesoro and I don't forgive betrayal," I say removing my gun from my pocket.
  • At the sight of my Revolver, Delta straightens her spine but tears streak down her face.
  • "We are going to play a little game," I tell her, and Luca and Lorenzo step forth.
  • "You are taking this far," Luca says.
  • "Unless you want a bullet in between your eyes, step back, Luca," I warn fiercely.
  • Throwing his hand forward, he maintains his position. Turning to Delta, I speak.
  • "We are going to play Russian Roulette, my dear wife. One bullet is in this Revolver, and when I shoot, if it gets to the bullet, you die on the spot," I tell her.
  • All the fear in Delta's body is shifted to a cold restrain.
  • "And if I don't die?" she asks softly.
  • "You walk away. If I catch you, I kill you," I warn.
  • It breaks my heart to say those words but my eyes are on hers. Pointing the gun at Delta's head, she whimpers.
  • "Don't do this, Adriano. I didn't rat you out," she begs.
  • "You did. Only you knew about it," I say.
  • "Shoot," Delta prompts closing her eyes.
  • Time is slow and then I pull the trigger.
  • CLICK!
  • Nothing happens because it's a fucking empty revolver.
  • "Get out, Delta. This is over. If you ever cross my path, you are a dead woman," I blurt out.
  • Squaring her shoulders, Delta walks past me, rushing out of my sight.
  • Time seems to stop, I don't know who moves first but Lorenzo walks up to me grabbing my shirt.
  • "You fucking imbecile, you were going to shoot her," he barks out angrily.
  • "It was an empty revolver," I confess placing it in my chest holster.
  • "It was empty?" Luca asks removing Lorenzo's hands from me.
  • I nod.
  • "Get her back," I say gripping my hair hard.
  • Luca rushes out and I don't know how long it takes but he walks back to me, I don't see Delta strolling behind him.
  • "Where is she?" I ask.
  • "Gone. I couldn't find her," he states.
  • "A little woman can't go missing in my town, find her," I bark out.
  • "Yes, brother. You know you went far pointing a gun on your wife's head, don't you?" Luca asks his eyes on me, judging me.
  • Stalking towards him, I scowl down at him.
  • "How I treat my betrayed wife is none of your fucking business. Find my wife. Now!" I yell the last part and Luca walks away.
  • Lorenzo follows suit and I stay there frowning, doubting if I made the right decision freeing Delta.
  • Mine. She belonged to me. We were married, now, I've set her free in a world free of wolves.
  • Way to go, Adriano.
  • ***
  • ***DELTA'S POV***
  • I went back home. To my home. Walking into my Uncle Romano's house, I see the fear he has on his face and I know he did it.
  • "What are you doing here?" he asks carefully.
  • "You did it, didn't you?" I question.
  • "I had to, Delta. But now, I need to leave the city before Adriano gets a hold of me. You are now in charge of the North Seattle Mafia," he explains.
  • In confusion, I gape at me.
  • "I am not a mafia. I can't control shit. Adriano just shot at me with a blank gun. He would have killed me, Uncle Romano. Do you understand? He played Russian Roulette with me," I bark out crying for the first time.
  • Uncle Romano gasps gently.
  • "I need to live in Italy now, Delta. The Estate and men are in your hands. Make sure you be a good Mafia Princess to them," he states.
  • "But why? Why did you do it?" I ask the tears clogged to my throat.
  • Uncle Romano closes the distance between us, his hands reach to my face and he forces our eyes to lock.
  • "This," he says throwing his hands around. "It's yours, Delta. I was just protecting it for you. I might have been an asshole to you, but this is your life now. I was just holding it for you until you turn twenty-one," he explains.
  • It clicks then in my head. This was Uncle Romano's way of saving me from Adriano. If Adriano knows about this, he will kill him.
  • "You think I hate Adriano?" I ask.
  • "You should. He is our enemy, Delta. He married you against your will. He can't always have what he wants," he spits out.
  • "Oh, Uncle Romano, I had fallen in love with him already," I confess crying softly.
  • Uncle Romano hugs me and whispers frankly to me, "He played Russian Roullete with you, sweetheart, is that a man you should love?" he demands and steps back.
  • I don't respond to that.
  • "I am leaving now. This mafia family is yours now. Don't let the De Luca put you down because you married a dick who tried killing you. I have to go now," Uncle Romano states and walks away, his things already set and ready to live.
  • "You are a Romano, Delta, you don't fall in love with a De Luca. They are bad news. Take control of your mafia roots and get back at that dickhead of a husband," he says walking away.
  • Two blows in one night. Am I even ready for this twirl of events in my life?
  • "Now that I am rich, I will make Adriano De Luca pay for using me as a fun game to please his mighty ego. I am coming for you, husband,"
  • Spitting out fiercely, I walk away.
