Chapter 3
- ***DELTA'S POV***
- "You are marrying Adriano De Luca?" Jake cries out into the phone and I feel my stomach twists.
- "Is it that bad? My asshole of an uncle set me up," I sigh, shuffling to the corner of the bed, curling up there.
- "It is bad. The De Lucas have a strict reputation and no one wants to cross with them. How did your uncle Romano end up owing Adriano money?" Jake questions.
- Raking my brain for answers, I come out with known. I hear the door shuffle and I give a curt goodbye to Jake, ending the call.
- Adriano walks in and hands me a gown. It's a very pale blue and heels that give me at least three inches from the ground.
- "Go shower and get dressed," he orders.
- "I don't take orders from you," I mutter, staring fiercely at him.
- "I like the fire you spit, now don't make me repeat myself," he shoots out.
- Fear grips me as I slip out of bed, stomping towards Adriano. Standing until I can breathe his smokey apple spice scent, I stand on my tiptoes and stare at him.
- I hate being this short... No, I hate how his mountain of a body dwarfs me.
- "I'm not getting married to you," I blurt out.
- "Let's see," he flashes out a grin, and leaning forward, he snatches my lips in his.
- I gasped and Adriano's hand grasped my head, deepening the kiss. I feel the heat spread through my lower belly and my panties dampen.
- When I start to move my lips, Adriano withdraws, his eyes filled with dark lust.
- "Go shower and get dressed, Tesoro. The Minister is downstairs waiting for us," he spits out.
- "This is illegal," I blurt out.
- "Walking into my bar with a fake ID, that's what is illegal. Maybe under my watch, I'll look after you better," he says.
- "I'm twenty-one," I grit out baring my teeth at him.
- "One month from being twenty-one. I wouldn't ask you to get your ass in the bathroom before I haul you there myself," he warns.
- I see the determination in his eyes and do as he says.
- **
- NIGHT
- Married. I'm fucking married to Adriano De Luca.
- Private wedding, I saw his two brothers, Luca and Lorenzo. They weren't assholes to me though. The food was perfect and my husband... Well, not bad.
- Standing before the mirror, I look at myself, I know this is my life now, but I don't see how accepting to go clubbing one night changed my life.
- The door clicks open and Adriano walks in. He rolls his sleeves upward and stands there, not forcing himself further into the room.
- "Is this where you perform your husbandly duty?" I ask our eyes clashing in the mirror.
- Adriano De Luca laughs, and it doesn't sound forced.
- Closing the distance, he trails kisses down my neck and I inhale sharply.
- His hands dance lightly over the fabric on my stomach, teasing lightly.
- "Do I make you wet?" he questions and I close my eyes, not wanting him to see the lust in them.
- "Keep your pretty eyes open, Tesoro," he warns.
- I obey. Something about this man calls me like a siren.
- "You can never make me wet," I blurt out challenging him.
- "Should I check it out?" he asks his free hand strolling to my midsection and I know I should move away but sinking into him feels so right.
- Then, his hand stops and I whine in disapproval.
- "You've had any man touch you there?" he asks our eyes still locked in the mirror.
- "No!" I cry out.
- His smug smile grows and he pushes away from me.
- "Change, we are going out to drink, Tesoro," his voice fills the space he just made and I try but fail to look unaffected.
- "I thought you were..." I shut up sounding foolish.
- "I'm not having sex with a woman I don't know. We might be married but while you are not comfortable, I can't," he states and walks away.
- My jaws drop and I force them close three times before I can get a grip on myself.
- Who really is Adriano De Luca?
- *
- One Month Later.
- It takes one month for Adriano to touch me but he has been good to me.
- He takes me out, and although I can't go out without him or a bodyguard, he has been nothing but a charming husband.
- "Sore, Tesoro?" he asks trailing kisses down my neck.
- "A little. You know everything about me but I don't know much about you," I say silently.
- A long pause and then, Adriano speaks. We've become close in the past weeks.
- "What do you want to know?" he inquires rolling to his back and dragging me into his chest, I laugh wrapping my arms around his neck.
- "What do you do for work?" I ask.
- Apart from him being in the mafia, I barely know what he does.
- "My legit side of my business is that I own clubs and run casinos," he says softly.
- "And the dark side?" I question.
- Adriano pauses, and then, he shakes his head as if making tough decisions.
- "I traffic guns into Seattle. I've got a shipment coming in tomorrow night at the warehouse, so, I'll be busy," he says trusting me with such information.
- I don't speak for a long time, not knowing how to react to that.
- "Can you deal with that truth?" he questions.
- I nod and fall asleep.
- Reality comes crashing on my happiness bubble on the night Adriano says his shipment is supposed to arrive.
- When he walks into the room, I know it's bad.
- "Adriano?" I call out seeing his dark features by the door.
- Turning on the bedside lamp, he looks furious.
- "Adriano? What is wrong?" I ask and then it happens.
- Adriano closes the distance between us and grabs my arm.
- "Ahh! That hurts. Let go," I cry out.
- "You little cunt. You caused this. You are going to be in a lot of pain when I let go," he yells at me.
- "Why, what happened?" I ask.
- "You got my shipment intercepted, Tesoro, and I am about to be the black beast you didn't know you were married to," he growls dragging me out of the house with only my nightie and into the cold evening air.
