- I felt my teeth gnashing with pain as I slowly opened my eyes. I noticed the room was dark and went for the stool lamp beside the bed. With shaking hands, I switched on the lamp and left the bed. I checked the time and realized it was already past 8pm.
- With trembling feet, I tried going for the door, so I could check on Eric, but realized I couldn't take a step further.
