Chapter 7 – Sister, Wanna Teach Me How To Dance?

  • Kael’s POV
  • When I returned to the company, I called my Beta, Lucas, over.
  • “How’s the Azure Heart I asked you to prepare?”
  • Lucas replied respectfully, “Alpha, it will be flown in within a week.”
  • The Azure Heart necklace was a masterpiece crafted by the internationally renowned jeweler, Master K. There was only one in the entire country, and its value was beyond measure. I had gone to great lengths to obtain it, planning to present it at the Umbraclaw Pack’s banquet, praying for flawless love under the Moon Goddess’s witness.
  • I gave a slight nod, said nothing more, and lowered my head to review the documents on my desk.
  • Just then, my phone rang.
  • Glancing at the screen, I saw it was my friend Rowan. I answered, “What’s up?”
  • A lighthearted voice came through. “Kael, check out the latest headlines.”
  • Not sure what he was up to, I unlocked my phone and opened the news feed. The image that popped up froze me in place.
  • It was a close-up photo of Isadora and that male model — one looking down, the other looking up, positioned so intimately it gave the illusion of a kiss.
  • Above it was a bold, eye-catching headline:
  • [Breaking News! Nightfang Pack Alpha severs his destined bond, while rising star model takes the spotlight.]
  • “…”
  • My chest tightened instantly.
  • Rowan’s laugh came through the phone. “Unbelievable. I actually had to learn about your broken bond through the trending page. How’s it feel to get blindsided like that?”
  • “Get lost.”
  • “Haha! Kael, you’re too much. Isadora’s a good woman. She’s tolerated you for six years. Any other woman would’ve left long ago.”
  • His words cut deep. I ground my teeth. “She was never my destined mate.”
  • “Right, right. Your destined one is Freya, isn’t she?”
  • I didn’t like where this was going. My tone turned cold. “Did you call just to mock me?”
  • “Not entirely. I called to tell you that your ex just rented out the entire first floor of Neon Nights Bar. I even got an invitation. Anyway, I’ve got to go dance now.”
  • He hung up.
  • Isadora, renting out Neon Nights Bar? I never would have expected her to do something so bold.
  • But it had nothing to do with me.
  • A moment later, Beta Lucas entered. “Alpha, the Matriarch has returned.”
  • Isadora’s POV
  • Inside Neon Nights Bar
  • I invited Rowan here for a reason.
  • Few people knew that Rowan was the second son of the Silverpine Pack, with most of his business overseas. He had come back this time to sign a deal with our OceanGate Group.
  • Unfortunately, the board members of OceanGate Group looked down on this rising star and kept him at arm’s length.
  • That’s when I knew my chance had come.
  • I walked over with a smile, holding a glass of wine, and greeted him.
  • “Mr. Cheng, it’s been a year, and you’re still as handsome as ever.”
  • Rowan had sharp, striking eyes, charming and naturally smiling.
  • “And you, Miss Miller, surprise me,” he said. “It’s hard to imagine that the beautiful, elegant woman in front of me is the same person I knew two years ago.”
  • I swirled the wine in my glass and smiled.
  • “People change. We always have to look forward, right?”
  • Rowan leaned in, his voice low and half-joking.
  • “I’m a little confused. You know I’m Kael’s good friend, so why invite me? Are you enchanted by my handsome appearance?”
  • He always liked to joke, but I didn’t back away. Instead, I leaned in closer.
  • “Are you interested in a deeper collaboration with OceanGate Group?”
  • Rowan’s playful expression vanished, replaced by seriousness. He looked at me in disbelief.
  • “You’re such a smart woman. Kael will definitely regret it.”
  • I smiled slightly.
  • “He’s in the past. Why bring him up?”
  • “True,” Rowan replied. “Then, beautiful Miss Miller, would you like to dance with me?”
  • He reached out his hand playfully, but before I could respond, a voice cut in.
  • I turned to see Caleb striding over with a glass of juice. Without even glancing at Rowan, he took the wine from my hand.
  • “Sis, you’ll get a headache if you drink too much.”
  • I nodded and accepted the juice naturally, taking a sip. It was particularly sweet today.
  • Caleb gave Rowan a polite nod, then turned back to me with a smirk.
  • “Zane said you’ve learned to dance. Can you teach me?”
  • I was in a good mood and didn’t want to spoil it, so I agreed.
  • “Sure.”
  • Caleb, being a former model, picked up the dance steps quickly.
  • On the glamorous stage, the two of us moved together with perfect rhythm. I even heard a few whistles from the audience below.
  • But it had been years since I last danced, and on the final step my balance faltered.
  • Suddenly, I stumbled but Caleb was quick, catching me and pulling me into his arms.
  • Pressed tightly against his chest, I could hear the rapid thumping of his heart.
