Chapter 3 Cutting The Ties Of Fate

  • Isadora’s POV
  • “What’s wrong, Ryder?”
  • Kendra came downstairs, her face turning pale. She shrieked and swung a feather duster at me. “Oh my God! You witch, how dare you bully my son! I’ll kill you!”
  • It wasn’t the first time this old woman had struck me.
  • For six years, I endured it—for Kael’s sake.
  • But not this time.
  • I summoned Vanessa. My body shifted, fur rippling as I transformed into a red wolf. With one swipe of my paw, I sent the feather duster flying.
  • “Try hitting me again,” I growled.
  • Kendra froze, stunned into silence.
  • When she found her voice, she collapsed onto the floor, pointing at me and shrieking. “Isadora, you’ve lost your mind! My son will throw you out of the Nightfang Pack for this!”
  • In the past, I avoided clashing with her. Out of respect for the Matriarch, Kael’s grandmother. Out of fear of Kael’s rejection.
  • But that fear was gone.
  • “Whatever,” I muttered coldly.
  • Ignoring the woman throwing a tantrum behind me, I grabbed my suitcase and left the Nightfang Pack villa.
  • Outside the door was a red Ferrari. The man inside was handsome and charming, waving at me.
  • “Baby, come on up.”
  • I nodded and got into the car, leaving the place I never wanted to see again.
  • Zane was my childhood friend. Before the Moonveil Pack disappeared, he had been my most persistent pursuer.
  • But now, things had changed.
  • I had become an outcast of the tribe, while he had become the heir of the Phantom Pack.
  • After deciding to sever ties with Kael, he was the first person I contacted for help.
  • He agreed without hesitation.
  • As he drove, Zane glanced at me cautiously. “Are you really sure about this decision?”
  • “I’ve never been more sure.”
  • I didn’t know why, but after leaving the place where I had lived for six years, my mood suddenly brightened. I felt lighter, freer, more alive.
  • Zane sighed and teased, “I thought you’d never come to your senses. I’ve been worried sick about you for six years. Why did you have to fall for that jerk?”
  • “Yeah. Why was I so stupid?”
  • “Thank goodness you woke up in time. If you’d waited another six years, you’d have been past your prime.” He smirked. “I was even thinking, if you got old and were thrown out, I’d reluctantly make you my mate. After all, we’ve been childhood friends.”
  • I rolled my eyes at him. “Jinx.”
  • He was the heir of the Phantom Pack, but still acted like a kid.
  • “By the way, where are we going now?” I asked.
  • “To the hospital, to find Kael.”
  • Zane laughed at my eagerness. “Alright, no beating around the bush.”
  • I nodded firmly. “Let’s go.”
  • “Alright, my lady.”
  • The top floor of the hospital was reserved for VIP patients.
  • I quickly found room 1203, politely knocked on the door, and pushed it open.
  • The moment she saw me, Freya hid under the covers, her eyes wet with tears, looking terrified.
  • Kael, sitting by the bed, turned serious. “What are you doing here?”
  • I spoke slowly and clearly. “Kael, please sever the bond between us. Once you do, I’ll leave.”
  • Kael’s face darkened. “You want to sever the bond?”
  • “Isn’t that what you want?” I furrowed my brow and glanced at Freya. “You’ve been here with her for six years. Cutting ties with me should be what you want, right?”
  • Kael frowned, his expression grave, but he didn’t move.
  • What was this man hesitating for?
  • At that moment, Freya weakly whispered, “Kael…”
  • Her voice was a hint.
  • Sure enough, Kael looked at her, then back at me. “Let’s discuss this later. Leave now and don’t disturb Freya.”
  • I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. “I’m serious. Since you’ve taken Freya back, I might as well leave. I don’t want to be in your way.”
  • “Isadora Miller!” His voice was cold and heavy, as if he had reached his limit with me.
  • “Freya is watching. Could it be… you’ve fallen for me, decided I’m your true mate, and can’t bear to let me go?”
  • When I emphasized “true mate,” I looked directly at Freya.
  • Her face paled, but she still clung pitifully to Kael, asking in a sweet voice, “What’s wrong, Kael?”
  • I stared coldly at him.
  • I wasn’t afraid to wait. Time was the only thing I had.
  • “Fine!” Kael clenched his lips, his face unusually cold, and declared loudly:
  • “By the Moon Goddess, I, as Alpha of the Nightfang Pack, sever the Luna bond with Isadora. From today onwards, you have no connection with me.”
  • A sharp pain spread from my chest, like a thousand needles piercing my heart.
  • I gritted my teeth, enduring the agony of the bond being severed, refusing to cry out.
  • Kael wasn’t doing well either. Cutting the destined mate bond was painful even for him. His face turned pale.
  • Kael’s face paled, his own body recoiling from the severed link. But in my eyes, the sight brought cruel satisfaction. Compared to six years of torment, his suffering was nothing.
  • “I won’t take a penny of your wealth,” I said coldly, sweat dripping from my brow. “I didn’t owe you in the past, and I won’t in the future.”
  • Kael stood in silence, his expression unreadable.
  • Freya, however, looked stunned.
  • I laughed bitterly, turned, and walked out without hesitation.
  • But once I stepped into the hallway, hot tears streamed uncontrollably down my face.
  • The pain was unbearable like a knife driven straight into my heart with every beat.
  • Six years of marriage. Eight years of love.
  • All gone. All wasted.
