• I was busy cleaning the mess in the general kitchen after dinner when I felt the presence of another in the house. A scent so familiar, I grew up knowing, a scent so easy for me to distinguish among several others.
• I rinsed my hand and rushed down to our apartment, opening Elena's former room. She was there. Rubbing my eyes with the back of my hand just to be sure I wasn't hallucinating about her presence again.
