- I stumbled through the hallway, Emery grabbed my arm, saving me from a face-plant into the wall. "Girl, watch where you're going!" she laughed. I rubbed my tired eyes, still trying to shake off the exhaustion. "Sorry, I wasn't looking," I admitted, yawning.
- Emery scrutinized my face, her brow furrowed with concern. "You look like you've been through a war. What's going on?" I hesitated, unsure if I should share my worries with her. But something about her kind expression put me at ease. "Let's just say I didn't get much sleep," I hinted, trying to brush it off.
