Chapter 3

  • Alex POV
  • Just a day into the marriage and it feels like hundred days in hell. I can't believe mum prohibited me from going to work all in the name of a stupid honey moon. I can't even imagine myself spending another day with this annoying lady, I have to think of a way to stop mum from booking any honeymoon tickets for us.
  • This is all dad's fault, if he had not threatened to give my shares of the company to that bastard, I wouldn't have found myself in this miserable situation.
  • "Are you even listening to me?" Monalisa half yelled, bringing me out of my thoughts.
  • " Huh?"
  • "Oh I see. I am sure you are enjoying all this. Could it be you are the one that advised your mother to book those tickets for us? " Monalisa asked with furrowed brows.
  • I gave her a derisive look. " Jeez! Why would I do that? You are not even my type"
  • She hissed. "I have an idea" She suddenly announced.
  • "What is it?"
  • "Act as if you suddenly fell ill."
  • " What?"
  • " I am sure your mum would cancel her plans when she finds out that her poor son is terribly ill and dying."
  • I furrowed my brows. Is she indirectly cursing me?
  • " What? It is just an act. It is not as if you are going to fall sick for real right? " She shrugged.
  • " Why should I be the one to do that?" I almost yelled.
  • " Hey! Don't you dare shout at me. What is wrong with you? It is just a mere suggestion" She sneered, putting on a mischievous smile.
  • Why does she enjoy making me angry? I clenched my fist. "Maybe you should put up an act of madness, I am sure mum would believe you more. She might not just stop the honeymoon but also our marriage"
  • She gasped. " Madness? Me? I think that would fit you better because you have already lost it"
  • " Yes, you are right. Merely looking at you makes my blood boil. I am afraid that if I continue like this, I might end up losing it finally"
  • " Don't you dare try..
  • Before she could finish the sentence, we heard a knock on the door and we both stopped quarrelling abruptly.
  • "Who is there?"
  • "It is me sir. Your mum wants you and your wife downstairs, the food is getting cold and everyone is still waiting" Gina, one of the maids announced.
  • " The food is getting cold? " Monalisa whispered in disbelief.
  • I ignored her. " Okay. Tell mum we will be down soon"
  • "Okay sir."
  • We heard the retracing steps of the maid down the hallway. I turned to see monalisa staring at me with a confused look.
  • "What?"
  • "Did the maid just said you haven't eaten?. Don't tell me that you refused to eat because I haven't eaten?"She exclaimed. " Or could it be that you have fallen in love with me?"
  • I let out a loud laugh filled with sarcasm.
  • " How could you fall in love with me? It is against the contract remember?" She insisted.
  • "Just shut up. Fall in Love with you? Seriously?" I repeated in disbelief. "That would never happen"
  • "As if I care" She mumbled to my hearing.
  • "This is all your fault, mum asked me to bring you down, so that we can eat together. Why is she being so nice to you? Huh? "
  • She shrugged. " Maybe it is because she feels that I am the best thing that has ever happened to her son"
  • I almost threw up.
  • " Best thing my foot" I scoffed, standing up. I am sure mum will stop being kind to monalisa, after she sees her true colors. I just can't wait for that day.
  • I sauntered over to the door and she followed suit. We both walked downstairs and was surprised to meet mum still seated on the dining table with her food untouched.
  • "Don't worry Hana, I won't eat until my son and his wife joins me."I heard mum say.
  • "Seriously? You have finally lost it" Aunt Hana, mumbled and slightly struck her forehead with her hand. Just then, she looked up to see us approaching. "Here comes her Excellency" She said sarcastically. "Hey, who do you think you are to keep us waiting? Is this how to treat your mother in law? "
  • " I..I..was.." monalisa tried to say but mum cuts her off.
  • "What are you saying Hana? She just got married and needs time to adapt to her new family." Mum scolded.
  • " Whatever" Hana mumbled and walked out.
  • " Don't listen to her dear, sit down and eat before the food gets cold"
  • We both sat down. The table became quiet as we all concentrated on the plates of corn dogs and hot chilies before us. Mum kept on adding more food to monalisa's plate.
  • "Eat my dear. Hope you like the food?" Mum asked.
  • " Yes ma. Thank you"
  • I gave her a derisive look and she smirked. I am sure she must be enjoying all the special treatments.
  • "Ma? You can call me mum, okay?"
  • I banged the table. "Mum what is going on? Why are you acting as if monalisa is a celebrity? You haven't even treated me the way you are doing to her now. I am your son remember?" I bickered.
  • " What are you saying son? I treated you much more better than this. Okay, eat more my prince" She giggled, adding more food to my plate.
  • " Looks like someone is jealous, cry baby" Monalisa mimicked.
  • "Who is a cry baby?"
  • " You"
  • "Then you are a fat, ugly baby"
  • "What? How dare you?"
  • " Are you guys really married?" Mum interrupted.
  • " No" We both exclaimed.
  • " Huh?" Mum asked, confused.
  • Holly Molly! What have we done?.
  • We exchanged glances as we both realized our mistake.
  • "I mean, yes. We are couple of course" I chuckled, nervously and crossed my arm across monalisa's shoulder.
  • "Yes, married. I am so lucky to be married to such a cute, lovely husband" Monalisa grinned, drawing my cheeks hardly.
  • Ouch! She is taking advantage of this situation to take her revenge. Bitch! I smiled trying really hard to endure the pain.
  • "You guys are so cute. I am sure your honeymoon will bring you guys closer. This is the ticket, prepare to leave for the hotel tomorrow"
  • " Why mum? I don't think it is necessary. Look at us, we are already close. We don't need the honeymoon." I replied.
  • " Exactly, mum. We are okay, the honeymoon is not necessary" Monalisa agreed.
  • "Why are you guys trying to avoid spending time with each other?
  • Is there something you both are not telling me?" Mum said with furrowed brows and hunched over the table.
