Chapter 8 - Useless Bodyguards

  • All the bodyguards and the driver took his instruction and stopped him halfway to the Orlan's family house.
  • Paul then proceeded with his journey to the Orlan's family house by calling a cab man.
  • He wanted to know how the grand patriarch of Orlan's family would react when he saw him at his birthday party. Most importantly, he wanted to know if his wife, Ella, had turned a new leaf after their last ugly encounter.
  • Meanwhile, at the same time at the Orlan's family house, all the hitmen who had been sent out to kill Paul were all kneeling on the concrete floor with their foreheads embracing the ground whilst they were all pleading for mercy saying, “Mr Knot please forgive us. We lost track him after some convoys of black tinted Mercedes Maybach cars barricaded us when we're about to capture and lynched him away!”
  • “Not only that the Mercedes Maybach convoys barricaded and stopped us from capturing him, some heavily armed and sturdy security operatives were equally tailing us. In that scenario, we couldn't help the matter other than to wait for them to leave the scene before acting but unfortunately, our prey seized up the opportunity and disappeared from our sight.”
  • “Sir, we promise to make it up for you next time!”
  • “Bastards! All of you are just bunches of useless and good-for-nothing nincompoops! I just wasted my hundred thousand dollars on you guys for nothing!” Bryan was fuming after his hitmen came back reporting their failed attempts in lynching Paul away. He paid them a whopping sum of hundred thousand dollars to get Paul killed for him.
  • Paul was the only barrier stopping him from marrying Miss Ella Orlan as she had insisted that she would never get remarried until she had legally divorced Paul. However, Paul has been proving stubborn, refusing to accept the divorce agreement in peace despite his outright rejection by the Orlan's family members.
  • Bryan was determined to remove Paul from his way so that he could marry Ella very quickly and that was why he paid some hitmen and deployed them as his bodyguards. He also secretly manipulated the bodyguards of the Orlan's family house to collaborate with his men in killing Paul by paying them exorbitantly. But now, they failed to get Paul killed.
  • Bryan was angry and lost in a deep silence of furious thought. He didn't know what best he was going to give to his subordinate as punishment for failing to carry out their mission successfully.
  • ‘Should he forgive them and give them a second chance to right their wrongs or should he ask them to return him his money?’
  • “Hey Bryan, what's wrong? Why are your bodyguards kneeling down before you, including mine?” Just then, a glamorous looking young woman came out from the Orlan's family mansion and questioned Bryan asking why all their bodyguards were lifelessly kneeling down before him like statues.
  • The young woman was Ella. Her voice and question interrupted Bryan's school of thoughts, calling him back to his present. Then, he turned to Ella and said, “Could you believe me that these fools allowed that idiot to go scot-free. They're just bunches of useless nincompoops disguising themselves as bodyguards. Just imagine that ten of them couldn't deal a blow on that bastardi fool called Paul!”
  • Hearing this, Ella's face turned into a frown. She felt irritated by Bryan's comment about Paul. She was still married to him since they haven't legally divorced each other and was not happy to hear Bryan insult her current husband.
  • Although she had earlier watched him insult Paul before and even supported him back then, she was still not happy about it, after all Paul was her legally married husband who had been living with her for eight. Previously, she pretended to be cool watching Paul being insulted and ridiculed by Bryan, herself and her family members, simply because she wanted to force Paul into accepting her divorce terms but since it was a failed attempt, she was no longer cool with Bryan insulting Paul in her presence.
  • “That's enough. You shouldn't have people kneeling down like statues before you,” Ella said to Bryan and turned to her bodyguards and instructed, “you all should get up at once and hasten your preparation so that we can head over to celebrate grand patriarch’s birthday!”
  • Although the bodyguards heard what Ella said, they didn't dare to stand from the ground. They didn't want to offend Bryan since they failed to execute his order successfully after eating his money. Instead of standing up, they unanimously lowered their heads before Bryan and pleaded, “We are very sorry Mr Knot for our mistakes and we promise to get it done perfectly if you can grant us a second chance!”
  • Their actions hardened Ella's frown face and she yelled angrily at them, saying, “Didn't you guys hear my instructions?!”
  • Seeing that Ella was very furious, Bryan also said, “Fools! Are you guys also deaf? Didn't you hear what Miss Orlan said just now? If she says that you should get up, then get up from there immediately before I lose my anger, unleashing them on all of you!”
  • “Thank you Sir!”
  • “Thank you so much young mistress!”
  • All the bodyguards chorused their appreciation and then stood up from the ground immediately, feeling relieved as if they had been granted amnesty.
  • They have heard so much about Bryan's ruthlessness and never wanted to fall victim of his anger.
  • Ella said to Bryan, “You don't have to be so mad at them, Bryan.” Although she was angry at their bodyguards for their actions, she knew that they were only trying to play safe with Bryan.
  • “I have forgiven them for your sake.” Bryan smiled and said, “Let's go to the birthday party right away, otherwise we might be very late to it.”
  • “Alright.” Ella smiled and then turned around and entered into her which had been prepared by her driver.
  • Bryan also got into the car and they drove off and headed to the Orlan's family grand patriarch's house.
  • It was the ancestral mansion of the Orlan's family and was not too far from where Ella and her parents lived.
