Chapter 118

  • Lance was far from feeling occupied or satisfied as he sat beside his mother and cousin, listening to the pastor preach. To be frank, he wasn't really listening, rather he was alternating between shifting uncomfortably and scanning his environment. This was one of the reasons he never liked attending church services - they were so boring and uninteresting. In fact, why on Earth he had chosen to tag along this Sunday was what he was trying to remember.
  • Suddenly, his mother got up and excused herself. She had a very important phone call to take and she quickly rushed out. Her absence felt better on Lance. He was now deeply relaxed and scanning his surroundings leisurely. He was no longer pretending to pay attention to the preaching.
  • Yet again, a mass of loosely-tied brown hair attracted his attention. It looked very familiar, but the owner was several seats away and had her back turned to him. He focused on the hair again for a while before his eye caught a smaller mass of brown hair on a smaller figure right beside her. Just then, the little girl turned her head. Well, it was Lisa! And the bigger mass of hair was obviously Cara's. Hmm he never thought Cara attended this church too. If he had known, he would have been a regular!
