Chapter 10 A Life and Death Decision

  • Under Kou Yan and Man Yu's care, the team smoothly live broadcasted for three whole days.
  • Living in the wild wasn't actually that difficult. In the really least, it wasn't that difficult in this reality show. In order to look after the guests' health, the production team inspected many places before finally finding a low danger level "primitive forest" with an abundance of water sources.
  • If it was survival in the true wilderness, don't even mention Man Yu, even Kou Yan who had ample experience wouldn't dare to guarantee that he would survive. So it could be said that this production team were relatively considerate to a certain extent.
  • However, the thing that surprised Man Yu was that her popularity soared after the water search episode. The audience all thought that her performance was a bit unexpected and outstanding compared to the other guests, excluding the experienced Kou Yan.
  • "Man Yu, who would have thought that were knew you were so capable?" The director contently pointed at the numbers of today's live broadcast. "Look, a lot of people are paying close attention to you, and there are also your readers. Your books are going to make a killing again!"
  • He patted Man Yu's shoulder, "After you earn money, you must properly thank me."
  • Man Yu smiled helplessly and teased, "Well, of course. But it's hard to say who is the actual biggest winner here-" Innate skill was truly a good thing. Who would have thought that she would be like a fish in water in this sort of environment.
  • While the two were chatting, they suddenly heard an anxious voice.
  • "Oh no! We have a state of emergency!" Small K pushed aside the underbrush and rushed into the production team tent, "Sis, Kou Yan's team seems to have been held up by something along the way!"
  • The director's complexion immediately changed. Man Yu pressed down his shoulder, "Director, I'll go have a look. Film crew, come with me!"
  • She beckoned with her hand, turned and followed Small K into the depths of the jungle.
  • Small K brought her to a shrubbery a few hundred meters from their temporary camp. From afar, Man Yu could see that Nie Suhuan was leaning over on the ground and a very small figure was twitching on the grass.
  • "What happened?" Man Yu immediately rushed over to inspect the situation.
  • A boy who looked around six to seven was lying on the ground. His eyes were tightly closed, his lips were blue and his entire body was convulsing.
  • "I don't know either. I came over because I heard a sound." Nie Suhuan was slightly at her wits end. Her hands were on top of the little boy. She didn't know whether she should pick him up or not. She frowned, "Why is a little boy in a place like this?"
  • "What do we do?" Small K crouched down as well.
  • "Undo his clothes." Man Yu immediately crouched down next to the boy, her face grave and stern. She said solemnly, "Check his body to see if he has any injuries!"
  • "Okay!"
  • The two big boys hastily and clumsily took off the boy's clothes and finally discovered a bright multi-colored bug on the boy's ankle. Man Yu lightly pushed it off with a stick. It had already sucked enough blood and rolled onto the grass.
  • "What is that?" Big K yelled in shock, "It looks like it's poisonous?"
  • "Guess you finally have a bit of common sense." Man Yu hadn't relaxed at all. She examined the other areas of the little boy's body while she asked, "Where's Kou Yan?"
  • "He went hunting," Nie Suhuan immediately answered.
  • "There's not enough time to tell him. This kid is in danger. We need to give him emergency treatment, and then deliver him to the production team." Man Yu's face was grave. She tilted her head, "Small K, where's our drinking water-"
  • "Wait, wait!" Nie Suhuan cut her off and said in astonishment, "You want to use drinking water? We only get a fixed amount of medical supplies and there's not much left already. Also, you don't even know what sort of insect bit him, if you recklessly treat him, who's going to take responsibility if anything goes wrong?"
  • "There aren't that many different types poisonous insects that you often see in a tropical rain forest. No matter what, we have to give him emergency treatment immediately." Man Yu coldly ordered, without any hesitation, "A life is at stake, give me the water!"
  • Small K immediately found a half-full bottle of water and a medical kit from his bag. Nie Suhuan watched them start to wash the wound, and involuntary drew back half a step, tightly grasping her own backpack of supplies.
  • "I'll... I'll go inform the production team!" Nie Suhuan stammered. She slowly drew back two steps, and then turned and ran into the jungle.
  • Man Yu didn't even lift her eyelids. She couldn't be bothered paying attention to that woman right now. She held out a hand without looking away, "Give me antiseptic and anti-inflammatory medicine, and also a syringe."
  • Big K went forward to help. He rummaged through the medical kit, but faltered when his hand touched the bottle of antiseptic which didn't have much left. He hesitated, "Sis, we don't have much antiseptic left."
  • Man Yu's brow knitted. She cast him a glance. After thinking it over briefly, she said in a gloomy voice, "The stuff in the temporary camp is already used up. We'll still have to wait a day before we get new supplies. If we can smoothly find the next supply point, this won't be a problem. It's just that it might be dangerous if we don't have fresh water and antiseptic."
  • The KK Duo were silent.
  • They knew that not having these supplies in a bad environment like this was really dangerous.
  • "I've already used up half a bottle of drinking water. If you both object, we can only wait for the rescue team to come." Man Yu calmly analyzed the pros and cons and asked for her teammates' opinion, "What do you think?"
  • "How long will the rescue team take?" Big K asked.
  • "Looking at current situation, at least two days."
  • Small K's face scrunched up. He clenched his teeth, "Save him! If anything happens to him, I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life."
  • "Then let me thank you guys in his place." Man Yu couldn't help but feel a bit moved. Big K stopped hesitating and passed over the antiseptic. Their remaining antiseptic was used on the little kid.
  • Man Yu also didn't know if this emergency treatment helped or not. The only thing they could do now was wait for Nie Suhuan or Kou Yan to come back.
  • The sky quickly turned dark. The three brought the kid to their temporary camp. They lit a campfire and took turns keeping watch at the tent door.
  • The weather of the rain-forest was unpredictable at night. The sudden rainfall gave everyone their first crisis since the show started filming.
  • At midnight, they were suddenly engulfed by heavy rain. Howling wind and torrential rain. The sea wind screamed, and deafening thunder followed by lightning ripped through the dark forest, rumbling deeply over the rain-forest. The gales were biting cold. A lofty tree, which was as thick as two arm spans, seemed to be fighting a losing battle against this storm. The treetop was swaying and it was on the verge of being pulled out of its roots.
  • Their camp was located in one of the few clearings in the forest but unexpectedly, under the sky of lightning flashes and rolls of thunder, a bolt of lightning directly struck the top of a tree.
  • "Creak--snap!"
  • The tall fir tree let out a dangerous snapping sound, and after rocking back and forth twice, it started falling directly towards their tent!
  • Man Yu had just pulled the KK Duo to the side. She saw that the tree was about to fall and instinctively, hugged the boy to her chest to shield him-
  • "Thump!"
  • There was a dull thud. Man Yu tightly hugged the little boy, but an even more powerful chest protected her in its arms!
