Chapter 13 The Peak Of The Ferris Wheel

  • An Jingxi widened her eyes, thinking that saying it like this would only lead to more misunderstandings?!
  • The Ferris wheel slowly ascended, bringing the sky, painted with the colors of the sunset, closer to the window. It couldn't help but warm her heart.
  • The towering buildings below became smaller as the Ferris wheel turned, reminding An Jingxi of her time in America...
  • It was the first time in her life that she felt so helpless, so insignificant. But fortunately, she met him.
  • A different perspective, a different feeling.
  • For the sake of her two treasures, she had to strive to survive in this world and live a wonderful life.
  • Leng Ye silently sat beside her, observing the changes in An Jingxi's expression.
  • As he looked at the loneliness and desolation in her eyes, Leng Ye suddenly felt a pang of heartache. He wanted to hold her tightly and tell her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."
  • But he was afraid of scaring her, so he silently held back.
  • He knew she had many secrets, but it didn't matter. He was willing to wait.
  • As the Ferris wheel was about to reach its peak, Leng Ye finally interrupted the spreading silence.
  • "Do you... know the legend of the Ferris wheel?"
  • "Hmm?"
  • An Jingxi looked at Leng Ye with confusion, not yet understanding why he suddenly asked her this.
  • "It is said that lovers who ride the Ferris wheel together will break up in the end," Leng Ye paused for a moment, "but when the Ferris wheel reaches its peak, if they kiss, they will receive the blessings of angels and continue to walk together forever... Please forgive my selfishness."
  • Leng Ye unexpectedly pulled An Jingxi towards him and, before she could react, lightly kissed her lips.
  • At that moment, the Ferris wheel also reached its peak, and time seemed to freeze in that instant.
  • Looking at Leng Ye's long eyelashes, An Jingxi's heart pounded, and her cheeks flushed. She slowly closed her eyes.
  • An Jingxi had to admit that at this moment, her heart was moved.
  • Leng Ye pressed his forehead against hers and said, "I'm sorry. I didn't want to believe it at first, but I don't want to let go of you. Even if you reject me in the end, it will still be a cherished memory."
  • On the cold night, he gently touched her cheek and said, "But I am greedy, I want you for a lifetime."
  • Their eyes met, and as she looked into his sincere gaze, An Jingxi's defenses slowly crumbled.
  • Suddenly, the sound of someone knocking on the door broke the atmosphere between them.
  • An Jingxi snapped back to reality and quickly pushed Cold Night away in a panic.
  • "Um, I'll go to the restroom first," An Jingxi turned and shouted at Cold Night before hastily running away.
  • As Cold Night watched An Jingxi's retreating figure, his eyes turned sharp as he looked at the lock attendant. If his gaze could turn into a knife, the lock attendant would probably have been sliced into pieces and sent for research.
  • Following the signs, An Jingxi rushed to the nearest restroom and splashed some water on her face to cool down.
  • An Jingxi looked at herself in the mirror, her face as red as a monkey's bottom.
  • An Jingxi, wake up. You can't be fooled by Cold Night. Don't forget your bottom line.
  • After An Jingxi had mentally prepared herself, she returned to the Ferris wheel.
  • Cold Night leaned against a tree, his handsome face and outstanding demeanor attracting the attention of many girls.
  • "He's so handsome."
  • "Why don't you go up and ask for his contact information?"
  • "I'm too scared."
  • "Do you think he looks like Cold Night in that magazine?"
  • "He's so handsome, I feel like my heart has already flown out."
  • All the whispers of the girls along the way reached An Jingxi's ears, and she suddenly felt like her heart was being played with.
  • Just as Cold Night was about to walk towards An Jingxi, a girl stopped him and said, "Hey, handsome, want to get to know each other?"
  • But Cold Night simply bypassed her and came to An Jingxi's side.
  • "Are you okay?"
  • "Yeah, let's go," An Jingxi glanced at the girls and replied calmly.
  • The girl who had approached them stomped her foot in anger as she watched the two of them leave.
  • On the way, Cold Night's gaze remained focused on her, and she felt uneasy, wondering about the answer that An Jingxi hadn't voiced.
  • "Just now... on the Ferris wheel..." Just as Cold Night didn't know how to ask, An Jingxi smiled and interrupted him.
  • "What should we do next? Where should we go to have fun?"
  • It was such an obvious change of topic that only a fool wouldn't be able to tell... Cold Night's eyes dimmed, concealing his feelings of disappointment.
  • Oh well, even though she didn't want to answer now, he believed that he would eventually get a satisfactory answer.
  • Cold night looked up and smiled at An Jingxi, "Let's go there, I heard there's a claw machine over there. Didn't you say you wanted to play?"
  • "Yeah, let's go."
  • An Jingxi walked ahead and saw a hint of loneliness in Cold Night's eyes. It felt like there was a knife cutting through her heart.
  • Cold Night, I'm sorry. You can find someone better, I can't hold you back.
  • As the sky gradually darkened, An Jingxi glanced at the sky. "Cold Night, it's getting late. I should go."
  • Cold Night checked his watch. "It's almost 8:30. I know a great Western restaurant nearby. Let's have dinner first."
  • "Just..."
  • Cold Night seemed to sense her hesitation and quickly interrupted, "Just follow my lead. After dinner, I'll take you home. Otherwise, it won't be easy for you to find a taxi now, right?"
  • "Well... alright."
  • Just one meal, it shouldn't be a big deal, right?
  • They handed the car keys to the waiter to park and followed them into the restaurant.
  • Although it was a Western restaurant, it perfectly combined retro and modern elements, giving a sense of elegance and comfort.
  • After they were seated, the waiter handed the menu tablet to Cold Night, who then passed it to An Jingxi. "You order, see if there's anything you like."
  • "No need, you order. I trust you, and I don't know what's good here either." An Jingxi pushed away the tablet handed to her by Cold Night.
  • "In that case, we'll have this and these two." Cold Night seemed familiar with the place and quickly made the selections without needing any recommendations from the waiter.
  • After the waiter left, there was a moment of silence in the private room.
  • "How was today? Did you have fun?" Finally, Cold Night broke the silence.
  • "It was good." An Jingxi replied briefly.
  • And so, the two fell into silence again.
  • Not long after, the steak and some other dishes were served.
  • An Jingxi was struggling to cut her steak when Cold Night suddenly stood up and took her plate.
  • He placed the steak he had cut in front of An Jingxi, who looked at him with confusion. "I can cut it myself."
  • "But I want to do this for you. Please eat," Cold Night said as he started cutting his own steak.
  • To be honest, An Jingxi enjoyed this feeling. It wasn't because she was vain or had a princess complex, but because being treated with such care felt really good.
  • The shop assistants, observing this scene, couldn't help but envy and whispered to each other, their words faintly reaching the ears of the two.
