Chapter 5 You'd Rather Your Company Go Bankrupt?

  • "No, he's not!" Emily lost it and roared at Freya, "He's just a monster, a scoundrel!"
  • Since Freya was young, her mother had never screamed at her, so she was so terrified that she turned pale. Still, she stubbornly looked at her mother as tears streamed down her face. She cried, "Mommy, everyone has a daddy, so why don't I have one?"
  • "Let's go, Freya." Emily forcefully pulled the crying child away from the clinic.
  • As she cried her way to their car, Emily felt guilty and could not help but tear up as well. However, her hatred for Corey did not diminish a single bit.
  • Although she had been cherishing Freya since she was young, she knew she was a selfish mother who would cause Freya to lack what they called 'fatherly love.' However, she would not forgive the man who destroyed her life for that justification.
  • Freya, I'm sorry. Please forgive me for being selfish.
  • 9.00PM was the start of Cloymond's nightlife.
  • Phalanx Entertainment's boss, Neil Sparks, and his buddies were enjoying their meal at Lakeshore Restaurant.
  • "Neil, have you slept with the woman at your company, Emily Fisher, yet?"
  • "Nope." Neil waved his hand. "F*ck! For a cuckoo woman, she's quite stubborn. I gave her 200 thousand, yet she still won't succumb to me. But don't worry; I know her situation well. Her family is running out of money, and she will soon bow down before me."
  • "Hahaha! Don't forget about us when that happens!"
  • "Yeah! Though she already has a child, her figure… Tsk! She's a rare beauty."
  • "Hahaha!" Neil chortled. "Don't fret. Once I'm done with her, you can all have a taste. Come on. Let's drink!"
  • When the group of men heard that, their eyes glistened with anticipation as lewdness made it onto their faces.
  • At that moment, the door was pushed open, and a calm-looking Corey entered the room, dressed in a black coat. His appearance instantly attracted everyone's attention, causing them to look at him in a daze and wonder who the unannounced stranger was.
  • "Hey, buddy, are you lost?" Neil set down his glass and eyed Corey up and down.
  • Corey's eyes were fixed on Neil as he asked, "Are you Neil Sparks?"
  • "Yeap, and who are you?" Neil had his guard up while glancing at Corey. Since Corey could call out his name, it meant he was there for him.
  • "I came to get Emily's salary." Corey was straightforward with his intentions.
  • Upon hearing it was about Emily, the men were all in high spirits, especially Neil. He crossed his legs and chuckled. "Kid, who is Emily to you? Why are you here to get her salary?"
  • "If you wish to keep your company from bankruptcy, have Emily collect her salary tomorrow. Now that I've informed you about it, the rest is up to you. Get it done." After saying that, Corey turned around and left. His expression remained calm and blank, resembling an iceberg.
  • However, his sudden words left the table full of men stunned. Is he crazy?
  • "Stop right there." Neil slammed his hand on the table, furious. "Who the hell are you? How dare you order me around! So what if I refuse to give Emily her salary? What are you going to do about it? You said you're here to claim her salary, but you don't even behave like one. Who are you to order me around?"
  • Hearing that, Corey stopped his steps and turned around to face him. "Did you just say you won't give Emily her salary?"
  • Neil wore a mocking countenance as he taunted, "That's right. But if you bow before me and show respect, I might reconsider it."
  • "So, you're saying you'd rather have your company go bankrupt?" questioned Corey coldly, his eyes filled with displeasure.
  • "Hahahaha…" The crowd burst out laughing after hearing what Corey said, and their laughter filled with disdain because everyone thought it was a joke.
  • At the same time, they also saw Corey as a clown. Although they had encountered many cocky fools, they had never seen one as arrogant as Corey. If he could ruin Neil's company, why would he come here personally and ask for Emily's 3-thousand-dollar salary?
  • It was especially true for Neil, who almost lost his breath from laughing. Then, he approached Corey and slammed his palm on his shoulder, mocking, "Buddy, that's cringe as hell. You're going to make me go bankrupt? Don't mind me asking then, but who are you?"
  • A trace of contempt appeared in Corey's eyes as he swapped the palm print away from his coat and took out his phone to make a call.
  • Three minutes later, Neil received a call from his long-term business partner. "Hey, Neil. From this moment onward, our partnership will cease to exist. Don't ever come looking for my company ever again."
