- I took a deep breath, holding her tightly, feeling her warmth against mine. "They're following instructions from my dad, Bella. He doesn't just want me to reject you; he has arranged for a replacement for me. And if I disobey, he's going to take it out on you."
- She pulled out of the hug, looking me dead in the eye. "What are we going to do, Jace?" The sadness on her face was impossible to ignore.
