Chapter 6

  • The principal could not believe what he was hearing, his face was that of disgust and fright as he was trying to take in what Emeka just said.
  • I on the other hand was prepared to defend myself from such despicable accusations, I won't let Emeka ruin my life with his evil lies, because of this unhealthy jealousy he has for me.
  • Emeka had always been jealous of me since I could remember. It started when we were both in junior secondary school (jss). Back then Emeka was like the king of the school, he was rich, handsome and was good at football, he had many friends and the girls were always flocking around him but his fame didn't last long because due to the crisis in the North (Boko Haram) my parents had to relocate, leaving their business and everything they had.
  • We moved down to the West to live in Lagos. Life wasn't really easy at first as my family had lost a lot of money because everything we had was in the North but later on both my parents got a job although we were not as rich as we used to be when we were in the North, we weren't poor either.
  • I had also left my former school in the North so I had to enroll in Brilliant International school, which was unfortunately the school Emeka was in, and obviously I was better than Emeka in everything he was good at.
  • I was also more good-looking than he was so the girls left him for me including the girl he loved so much back then, Funke.
  • What used to be his world, his kingdom was now mine. Emeka was angry and jealous of me. He knew the only thing he had more than me was his father's wealth, so he vowed that he won't make me happy, that any girl I love he is going to do everything to get her because he has this saying ‘every girl has a price, and he is every girl's dream.' Meaning he has the money to get any girl he wants. However I won't let his jealousy and sick game cus me my life, so I had to stand up for myself...
  • “Sir, all Emeka said is not true. They are all lies! I never planned to hurt Sandra, nor her Dad!! He tells lies!" I made my voice heard.
  • “Why are you denying what you said? You told your best friend Ayo and he was the one that told us. Not just me but half of the whole class." Emeka said.
  • “I never said I was going to rape someone's daughter and send it online. You are such a liar. Was it my fault that everyone likes me more than you? Is it my fault that I'm better-looking than you? Was it my fault Funke left you for me then? and now Sandra chose me and not you?"
  • I lashed at him, all the while the principal just kept quiet. Perhaps he was trying to figure out who was lying and who was telling the truth or maybe he was just totally shocked at what we were saying.
  • “Don't you ever mention Funke's name again!"
  • The sound of Emeka's voice was that of an angry man.
  • “I warned you that you will pay for taking everything from me then, that's why I took Jessica from you and I will also do the same to Sandra."
  • I laughed at him mockingly.
  • “Jessica means nothing to me, but Sandra means the world and I won't let you have her. I won't let you ruin what I and she share because of your jealous hateful heart."
  • It was as if Emeka had forgotten that we were both in the principal's office, maybe because the principal had been quiet for so long or it's because Emeka was so angry that he was speaking without thinking.
  • “Sandra would never believe you, after what I told her, she is such a fool she believed everything I said and that's how I will get her for myself."
  • I was amazed at what I just heard, unknowingly to Emeka he had just confessed in front of I and the principal and finally the principal decided he had heard enough.
  • “Both of you shut up! Don't you have any respect for my office and my personality?! Shouting like mad dogs."
  • The principal said in a frown. Then he took his eyes to Emeka.
  • “ So you told lies about your classmate? And a very big lie at that."
  • Emeka realising that he had just implicated himself was speechless.
  • However, the principal suspended both of us for two weeks for fighting and told us to bring our parents to school.
  • I was happy because I was not expelled only suspended, but I was sad that I won't see Sandra for the next 14 days, I haven't explained to her what really happened, she still hates me, the only person I was blaming right now for this was my best friend Ayo, I was so angry at him for putting me in this mess.
  • The Principal sent for Mr President, Sandra's father( Mr Uche) to his office and told him everything that just happened..
  • They had been talking for about an hour, while I and Emeka waited outside. Emeka couldn't look at me in the eyes, his grand evil plan of ruining my life had failed and I am sure he is feeling stupid now but I careless of how Emaka feels. I just want to make things right with Sandra...
  • Some minutes later Mr President came out, and told us to go to our classroom but warned us not to go close to his daughter ever again or else we will wish we were dead.
  • How cool now, just how cool. I have her father also to worry about, this is just getting worse!
  • Me and Emeka entered into the classroom, and we were met with a thousand questions from our classmates who wanted to find out the outcome, but we both were quiet, cause in some way we both lost, we both got the same punishment and it seems we both have lost Sandra for good.
  • Ayo tried talking to me but I brushed him aside. Teachers came in to take us lectures and time kept moving...finally it was closing period, we had an emergency assembly where the principal announced that we had been suspended for two weeks, this made the whole school not be at ease as students kept murmuring throughout until the assembly was over.
  • We all left for our various homes. For me this will be the longest two weeks of my life.
  • So what do you think so far?
