Chapter 6 Announcement

• Authur drove back to the hospital with a black Bentley, he had purchased the car after buying the mansion.
• He went into the room and saw his sister and his mom playing and chatting with Josephine.
• They all held a piece of Cookie in their hands and didn't notice when Authur walked in.
• "This is so good"
• "You are so nice"
• Mr's Maxwell and sage showered praises on Josephine and praised her for her cooking skills.
• "Ahem…hmm" Authur cleared his throat and stood at the doorstep.
• They all stopped chatting as they saw Authur standing with his legs crossed and looking at them like they had done something wrong.
• "It is time, let's go." Authur ignored Josephine and stared at his mom and sister.
• "Ummm we were having a nice time with big sis"
• Sage blinked her eyes and puffed her cheeks like a puppy and then said "Let's stay a little big bro, please!"
• "No! we have to leave" Authur walked towards his mom.
• "Listen to your big bro sage, we can always talk anytime… huh here's my card, call me anytime." Josephine brought out a card from her pocket and gave it to Sage.
• "Yeah, I guess bye!" Sage collected the card and hugged Josephine.
• Josephine decided to leave the family and get back to her office, she bowed her head down as she passed Authur and slowly walked out of the room.
• Soon all three could be seen walking out of the hospital and laughing loudly.
• The car made some beeping noise as they got closer.
• "Wow, this is so pretty! Whoever owns this big boy is lucky"
• Sage praised the black Bentley as they walked closer to it.
• "It's ours"
• Authur gave a lopsided smile, he couldn't wait to see the expression on their faces.
• "OMG, big bro are you serious?"
• "Authur how did you get this?"
• His mother questioned him, she knew the Carter family treated her son like trash but she never expected him to get an exquisite car like that while married to Chloe.
• "Mom, little sis, I will tell you all about it when we get to our new home."
• Authur opened the car door and they were both surprised to see that it was his.
• They happily entered the car and Authur drove them to the house he previously purchased.

• "I just find it difficult to believe that we are able to live in a huge house like this, it…feels like a dream"
• Authur's mom couldn't stop talking while they were having dinner in their new home.
• The three of them sat down to have dinner as a family, it had been years since they sat together especially since Authur got married and became the lowly son-in-law of the Carter's family.
• Authur's dad died of a cardiac arrest when Authur was about twenty years old, Lord Carter had once told him that his father was a very good friend of his and had once saved his life.
• Probably that was the reason Lord Carter wanted him to get married to his daughter.
• If only Lord Carter knew how the Carter's family had treated him after he died.
• Now that Authur was twenty-five, his biggest desire was to see his mom and his little sis happy.
• "We are divorced!" Authur twisted his fork and tried to get a decent amount of spaghetti on his plate.
• His mom and sister stared at him like he was out of his mind.
• "What? How?"
• "When?"
• Authur casually said and turned his attention back to his spaghetti, " We divorced two days ago"
• Their eyeballs were wide in shock as they struggled to believe what he had just told them.
• Even though he was famously known as the lowly son-in-law, they never thought the Carter's would ignore Lord Carter's last wish and divorce Authur.
• Sage breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh thank goodness! I can't stand them"
• "Me too sage, they had treated him like a slave ever since Lord Carter died." Mr's Maxwell said instantly.
• "You are right Mom"
• Authur smiled sheepishly, "Well now you won't have to deal with them anymore, I will take care of them!"
• "So what type of business are you doing? You seem to have a lot of money now" Mrs Maxwell drooled over the amazing dish right in front of her.
• It had been long since they ate something that delicious and Authur had hired a highly talented chef to cook for them.
• "I now own a company," Authur said with a satisfied smile.
• Their jaw dropped and they were left speechless.
• How on earth did Authur Maxwell, popularly known as the maltreated son-in-law of the Carter's family own a company?
• Even his family were left in shock.

• The announcement released by the Emerald Isle completely shook the whole of Beverly Hills like a thunderstorm.
• A lot of design companies were eager to make a move. They wished to forge a relationship with the mysterious Mr Maxwell who bought the popular jewelry company in the country.
• Moreover, the new owner of Emerald Isle had made an announcement to partner with the best design company that submits the best and most breathtaking design.
• The sum of two hundred million will be given to the best design company that fits the standard.
• Two hundred million!
• It was a lot of money and a lot of companies could not wait to partner with Emerald Isle, some even wished to marry their daughter to the owner of Emerald isle.
• Including Lady Carter, though she had heard about the ownership of Emerald Isle being transferred to Authur Maxwell, her ex son-in-law.
• She couldn't believe the rumour at first and even when Chloe and Ethan told her, she shut them up.
• Two hundred million was a huge money and lady Carter could not afford to miss it, it would bring their family to the next level.
• Lady Carter called for an urgent family meeting at the mansion to discuss about how to partner with the new owner of Emerald isle and get the deal.
• Everyone had to attend!
• Later that night at the Carter's family mansion.
• Everyone was present in the meeting room except for Lady Carter.
• Soon lady Carter walked into the room and the official family meeting began.
• Lady Carter sat at the extreme end of the table, it was where the head of the Carter's family always sat.
• Ever since Lord Carter died, lady Carter had been the one in charge of the family affairs.
• She hit her palms on the table and everyone stopped talking amongst themselves.
• "I am sure we are all aware that the new owner of Emerald isle made an announcement to partner with the best design company in the country" Lady Carter stared at everyone's faces and ignored their confused expression.
• Lady Carter continued loudly " And rumors have it that the new owner of Emerald isle is Authur Maxwell, our ex son-in-law."
• Chloe frowned in disgust, "Mom I don't think we should go back to Emerald isle and strike a deal after being humiliated by Authur"
• Lady Carter slammed the table furiously and shouted at Chloe "How can you say such a thing like that! You caused this! If you hadn't divorced him then maybe we would have been in a good relationship with Emerald isle"
• The rest of the family knew they couldn't interrupt or challenge Lady Carter, everyone knew how Lady Carter treated Authur and they were all aware that she was the one who had always wanted Chloe to divorce him.
• "Well, haven't you always called him the useless son-in-law, so what changed?"
• Chloe talked back at lady Carter and everyone thought that she must be out of her mind!
• Actually, Lady Carter was aware of how she had once treated Authur and she just needed to blame someone for their misfortune.
• Who could have thought that the once miserable and useless son-in-law would become the owner of the best jewelry company in the country?
• Either way, she had to find a way for Emerald isle to partner with their small company, just so they could rise to the top.
• She was the head of the family and she didn't want to appear weak and ashamed, she wanted to appear fierce and confident, after all Authur was once part of their family.
• She stared at Chloe disdainfully "Everything changed when he became a billionaire! You know we have always wanted to work with Emerald Isle and this seems like the perfect opportunity"
• Emily quickly said with a disgusted look on her face, "I still can't believe how a worthless and disgusting son-in-law became rich in a few days"
• Nolan said in a nervous tone, "And who will we send to Emerald isle?"
• Everyone turned to look at Lady Carter, Only she had the right to make decisions in the family.
• Nolan could feel the sweats trickling down his forehead as he waited for Lady Carter to make her final decision, he dared not speak as he was just a son-in-law.
• He looked at Avery and the two immediately kept their head low, they hoped Lady Carter would not choose them!
• They could not bear the embarrassment that would come with the heavy task!
• They had also humiliated and made fun of Authur and they couldn't bear to look at him in the face.
• "Chloe will be the one to present our best projects to the Emerald isle"
• Lady Carter broke the silence.
• Chloe quickly responded "C'mon Mom I can't be the one to present it to Emerald isle"
• "You have to do it to make the Carter's relevant in the country!" Emily smiled as she leaned back on the chair.
• Chloe had always been Lady Carter's favorite, and Emily took the opportunity to make her feel stupid.
• Chloe clenched her fist, she didn't have a second choice and whatever Lady Carter said was final.
• "I will do it"
• Chloe's announcement made everyone gape in extreme surprise.
