- At around eleven in the morning, someone knocked on the door and disturbed Authur's sleep.
- "Who's that?" Authur groggily said, not looking from up the bed.
- He opened his eyes slowly and touched the side of the bed. He recalled that a woman was with him but he couldn't remember her face clearly so he wondered where she might have gone to.
