Chapter 9 The Pull

• Two weeks pass, and I don't skip her class again.
• I tell myself it's because I can't afford to fall behind, but that's not the whole truth. The whole truth is I need to see her, need to know she's still the same person from that office, steady, careful, trying to hold something back that scares her as much as it scares me. The lecture hall becomes the only place that feels normal anymore, forty-five minutes a day where she's just a professor and I'm just a student and neither of us has to say the word gumiho out loud.
