Chapter 6 Episode 6
- At that moment, a loud crash echoed behind Astrid. When she turned around, she saw the beams in the bedroom had fallen due to the fire.
- The flames leaped high into the air, casting a red glow in everyone’s eyes.
- Only Axelrod’s eyes remained cold and dark. He observed as the Alpha Chamber was consumed by the flames, then turned and ordered in a chilling tone, "Take them all away and lock them up for punishment!"
- "Yes," the guards replied, rushing forward to carry out his orders. But the leader of the guards, being sharp, stepped up and said, "Your Highness, she—"
- He was pointing at Astrid.
- Astrid glanced back at Axelrod. He paused for a moment before saying, "Find a room and lock her up first."
- "Yes."
- The guard moved forward but didn’t act like he did with the others. Instead, he simply told Astrid, "Let’s go."
- Astrid felt confused, but with no other options, she lowered her head and followed the guard.
- Axelrod watched them disappear into the darkness, and then Sebastian chuckled softly.
- Axelrod shot him a cold glare.
- "What’s so funny?"
- "Nothing, nothing."
- "Then if it’s nothing, stop smiling."
- "Yes."
- Even as he said this, the smile faded from his lips, but his eyes still held a hint of amusement. After all, he had known Axelrod for years and understood his fierce and somewhat ruthless nature.
- The words that the "naive" young woman had just spoken clearly had an impact; otherwise, Axelrod would have dealt with her much more harshly by now.
- The fact that he asked someone to "find a room" to lock her up showed he had other plans.
- How interesting, really interesting.
- Sebastian couldn’t help but glance back again, even though Astrid had already vanished into the night.
- But then Axelrod's icy voice echoed in his ears: "What are you doing here?"
- Sebastian turned to face him and replied, "like i said, I heard you were back at the palace, so I thought I’d drop by." He hesitated for a moment before quickly adding, "You really shouldn’t be here, Axelrod. Not today, at least..."
- "I need answers, and waiting isn’t going to help," Axelrod insisted.
- "I get that, but you should have thought this through before showing up," Sebastian said with a heavy sigh.
- "Sebastian, are you trying to say?" Axelrod replied coldly. "You know very well that waiting won’t change anything..."
- Sebastian shot back, "Can’t you see it..?"
- Axelrod shot him a frosty glance and fell silent.
- Sebastian shook his head in disbelief. How could Axelrod have gotten himself into this mess? That young lady was right; tonight’s actions would only tarnish Axelrod’s reputation even more.
- After a moment of thought, Sebastian said, "Actually, I came here to give my favorite cousin some advice."
- "What kind of advice?" Axelrod asked.
- "Just go back until this all blows over."
- What?
- When Axelrod heard those words, his face turned from blank to gloomy in an instant, and he shot a cold glare at the speaker. "Do you even know what you're saying?"
- "Of course I do. You got some unknown letter saying your father is about to make your stepbrother the new Alpha, and you rushed back here without thinking. Now you're here just to see the palace in flames and your father missing. What does that mean to you?"
- Axelrod squinted, a dangerous look crossing his face. "I might have been set up."
- Sebastian nodded, then added, "Exactly! I know you probably took out a few guards to get into the palace, but I also know you didn’t start the fire or let those monsters in..." He paused, choosing his words carefully. "But I'm worried that no one will believe you're innocent. They'll all think you did it."
- Axelrod's expression darkened a bit. As much as he hated to admit it, he knew Sebastian was right. The fire had started just as he stepped into the palace.
- He clenched his fists tightly.
- Sebastian spoke again, "And we can't even be sure if that letter was true..."
- Axelrod's face darkened once more.
- He knew the letter was true. His father had told him many times that he would never be the next Alpha king, which is why he always sent Axelrod to guard the borders and fight on the front lines, not caring if Axelrod got hurt or not make it back alive.
- It seemed he was never going to be his heir.
- Just then, a guard rushed over, panting heavily. "Your Highness, we found the Alpha king! We found him!"
