Chapter 6 A Dance With The Seduction
- Evelyn
- I watched as everyone made their way to the dance floor and either danced with their partners or friends.
- I could see dad and Clara dancing at the center of the floor, a smile made its way to my lips automatically. They looked cute and most importantly, my dad looked happy.
- After my mom had left him, my dad went through a lot yet he never failed to be the perfect dad he was. He was the best parent anyone could ever get. I wanted him to be happy just like this and I knew that Clara would never let the smile fade away from his face.
- "Hey, Evelyn."
- The deep melodious voice broke me out of my trance and my eyes met with Jacob's who sat on the stool beside me.
- "Oh..hi!"
- I took a second to notice his attire, well the red shirt did look very good on him...like really. As always this man left a few buttons undone and the sexy sight of the tattoo on his chest was snatching not only mine but a lot of ladies' attention.
- "May I know what made you so happy?" He asked, a small curved on his lips.
- "Nothing much," My eyes moved to glance at Clara and dad, the smile on my face never faded, "It's just that...dad's happy and has finally found someone who brings the best out of him. I'm because now I can be sure that my dad has someone who cares and truly loves him."
- "You love your dad a lot." It wasn't a question, it was a statement he let out with a look of admiration.
- "He's all I have, Jacob," I began, "But now thankfully, I am going to have Clara as a family too."
- "You never talk about your, mom," he asked sounding curious, "Why is that?"
- My mood took a different turn at the mention of my mother, and the smile on my face dropped.
- The same grudges and anger residing within me, tried to surface but like as always, I suppressed them under the same weight.
- "She is not my mother, she might have given birth to me but she was never there for me. You know my dad is the one who took care of me since I was five, and if I had anyone besides me was my dad and I know he'll always be there." I spoke, my words coming out a bit harsh but I knew Jacob was aware that this harshness was not directed at him.
- "So, I don't like talking about the ones who had left me long ago." My voice shook for some reason, "Sometimes, It's better to cut some particular people out of your life."
- He did not say anything, and a few moments passed just in silence and with me absentmindedly staring at the dance floor.
- But then he spoke again.
- "Red wine," He handed me the glass of wine, "Your favorite one."
- Surprise indeed pass through me so did it cross my expression.
- "How did you know?" I asked, stunned.
- I saw the smirk tugging at his beautiful lips even though it was barely noticeable.
- "Just like you knew Negroni is my favorite."
- The remembrance of me saving him from the claws of nasty Gloria swashed back into my memories.
- "So you used to stalk me too?" This left my mouth before I even knew it.
- Those bewitching dark green eyes looked at me, and the flicker passed through them.
- Damn! It was too late to take my words back.
- Stupid Evelyn! Why can't you just keep your mouth shut for god's sake?
- "Not really," Jacob decided to brush it off with a chuckle, "But I had seen you stealing the bottle of wine late at night, probably more than a couple of times."
- The mention brought a pink tint to my cheeks. I could vaguely remember, after the picnics, we used to have I used to stay awake late at night and after everyone would be asleep I would just sneak out and steal the wine from the cabinets.
- And sometimes I'd be lost in the fantasies of Jacob Adriano too but I hope he did not hear me making those sounds...
- My thoughts were broken after a very annoying voice came into my ears.
- "Hey, handsome."
- I saw the woman approaching Jacob or I could say wrapped in pink plastic Gloria the bitch stood extremely close to him.
- I noticed the discomfort instantly becoming obvious in Jacob's expression and posture as he moved a bit away from her.
- "Hi, Miss. Gloria," he awkwardly responded.
- "I must say, you look extremely...delicious, today." She traced one of her deadass long nails on the side of Jacob's face and traveled it down to his neck.
- This fucking bitch!
- This time I could see the signs of agitation covering Jacob's face and apparently the sight of this shameless woman especially while desperately trying to get into Jacob's pants caused my anger to surpass all levels.
- "You are a fucking married woman, Gloria," I spoke through gritted teeth.
- "Well...can my husband be seen anywhere near?" She had the audacity to speak back.
- The effects of alcohol must have wiped the last drop of shame left within herself.
- "No, but that ring on your finger can be," I wanted to slap her right now but Alas! I had to keep myself satisfied with words only, "So, I hope you can stop acting like a trashy woman already."
- "Listen, little girl, what we grown-ups do is none of your business. Okay?" She slurred; Definitely she had consumed far too much alcohol that might end her up getting beaten.
- "And if you have so much problem with this ring," She took the ring off of her finger and put it in her purse, "There you go, it no longer can be seen."
- I couldn't believe what she did!
- The amount of insanity, arghh!
- This fucking wretched bitch just took off her wedding ring just so she could have her chance with Jacob. Oh bloody hell, I was so close to beating her up to a pulp.
- Just when I was on the way to empty all the curse words in my vocabulary on her, Jacob lightly took my hand in his and flashed me a small smile; Beneath that smile there remained a request too— He did not want not to create a scene.
- "Let's go sit somewhere else, Evelyn," He stood up taking me along with him.
- "Wait, let's have a dance," she tried to grab Jacob's hand but I already had enough of it.
- I pushed Jacob behind my back and stopped her hand before she could even touch her.
- "Don't you fucking understand that he is not interested in you?" I spat, "Now before I really throw you out of the party for causing a scene, just get lost."
- "He didn't say that yet." she crossed her hands over her chest.
- "If hearing it from my mouth would stop you, then yes. I am not at all interested in you and have better things to do." Jacob finally decided to speak, "Now please leave." His tone remained extravagantly harsh and the annoyance vivid on his expression.
- And this was when I finally noticed the insult taking its effect on her. She looked a bit shocked as though she couldn't believe she was being rejected like this.
- "Now did you hear him? And about the dance, he had already promised me one. So better luck next time," With that being said I grabbed Jacob's hand and headed to the dancefloor with him without giving that bitch another glance.
- My anger still hadn't lessened a bit. Every time I watch that woman, I feel like my blood just boils over a hundred degrees and of course, from now I'll have another reason to hate her.
- "Fucking bitch!" I muttered under my breath, as I absentmindedly set Jacob's hands on my waist and rested mine on his chest
- God damn my anger! I could even realize what I was doing.
- My eyes finally moved to look at Jacob after a few seconds and unexpectedly amusement was written all over his face.
- "What's so funny?"
- "You get angry very easily."
- "You are a grown-up man, Jacob. It's high time you should learn how to save yourself from the claws of such bitches." I voiced, "This is the second time I saved you!"
- "Well...I am thankful for that." He pulled me closer by my waist ever so slowly and this was when I finally began realizing how close we were.
- I knew no one was going to notice us on this crowded stage then why the hell I was feeling this strange feeling crawling up my skin; It was not nervousness, it was something else...something very different.
- "The color red suits you, Evelyn," He whispered and slowly began moving our bodies with the sync of the music.
- "But I am wearing black, today," I said, confused by his compliment. The dress I had worn was black.
- "I am talking about the color on your cheeks, they looked pink when you were angry."
- The furious blush fought to shade my face but I decided to brush it off.
- "Haha! Nice Joke!" I said in sarcasm and this made him laugh.
- "So tell me, what made you help me two times in a row?" He asked after a while.
- "You should know since you seem like you are aware of all my secrets." It automatically left my mouth but this time, I did not want to take it back.
- "You like to keep a lot of secrets, don't you?" His voice grew deeper.
- "Or maybe it's you who overlooks the signs," I said.
- The challenging green eyes of Jacob Adriano pierced through mine, the shiver fought to run down my body.
- And then he said the next words that changed my entire mood in a blink.
- "Sometimes, things are better that way."
- Fuck his philosophy!
- "You know what? I should have left you with that Gloria," I pulled away from him, the anger appearing within my nerves more than any other time, "In that way, at least I wouldn't have to be stuck with these weird philosophies of yours."
- He appeared to have an idea about my anger but he did not say anything, and neither did I have the time to figure out the meaning behind that look on his face.
- "Get back that bitch and dance with her," I exasperated, "I am done."
- With that, I walked away from him and exited the dancefloor not sparing a glance back at him.
