Chapter 4 Secret Or Not?
- Evelyn
- "Evelyn, get the hell out of the pool....you'll catch cold." I ignored dad's yell and swam to the other side of the pool.
- "I am not a kid, dad," I yelled back as I leaned against the edge of it, "Go and get some rest!"
- The party had ended an hour ago and everyone had gone back either to their rooms, apparently, this mansion dad owned was huge. No less than a palace may I say, and over a hundred people could easily stay here and I doubt that there were a hundred guests invited here. Although the wedding day would be an expectation.
- "Evelyn I said get out right now!" Dad ordered but I again paid no attention to his words.
- There were only four of us in the poolside right now. Clara who was trying hard not to laugh, dad who was not letting me enjoy my swim, me who was sticking to my decision and....Jacob was silently watching the entire show sitting on one of the many chaise lounges placed around here.
- "Grow up, dad," I didn't know why I loved getting on dad's nerves, "Let me enjoy my swim."
- As expected I could dad's face turning different colors and he yelled again,"What did you just say? You are me telling to do what?"
- "Grow Up!" I enunciated and Clara burst into a fit of laughter, I could notice the sight of Jacob trying to hide his laugh behind his hand.
- "Evelyn Fernandez get the hell out of that pool right now!" Dad barked.
- "Samuel, let her enjoy. She will not catch a cold besides she only started swimming a few minutes." Clara spoke but dad's glare was set on me which I returned immediately.
- "She has got that tendency to easily catch a cold, Clara," Dad spoke, "She should not be this careless."
- "Dad the water is very warm, you can check it if you want," I replied to him and I saw his glare fading away and a frown settling on his face.
- Knowing dad I could tell, it looked like he was having a debate whether to leave the argument here or would continue it.
- There was another chance of his to confirm if....before I could even complete my thought I saw dad crouching down and checking the temperature of the water by dipping his hand inside the pool.
- The laugh tore from my mouth automatically but that didn't affect dad. He slowly stood up after confirming the temperature was safe for his daughter's health.
- "Fine, you got an hour, and after that, I want you back in the mansion, and if not then I'll drag you out from the pool by myself." He spoke still keeping his stern voice and I nodded trying hard to not laugh again.
- He still treated me the same way he used to I was a kid, apparently for my dad I'll always remain a little kid no matter how old I get.
- "Jacob...I and Clara need to receive a few guests who are probably going to arrive in about a few minutes, kindly keep an eye on her and inform me if you saw her sneezing or anything like that." He looked at his best friend and I had expected Jacob to look surprised or say anything but he only nodded.
- With that dad was out of the place, and Clara soon followed me who blew a kiss at me before she was out of my view.
- Not even a second later after they left, the air around the pool area felt ten times heavier.
- There was only two of us in this entire place, and there were not even any sign of guests since this side of the mansion that faced the pool area had mostly rooms that were booked for us only. Some were left empty for my friends and family members who were yet to arrive.
- "Need something, Evelyn?" Jacob seemed to notice the stillness of me and my u ruffled gauze that was staring at the reflection of him that fell on the water.
- "You won't be able to help, Mister Jacob," I responded and swam closer to the side of the pool sitting on the blue tile covered stair of the pool that was underwater, my position made half of my body stay out of the water with only my hip and legs staying under it.
- I hadn't expected him to question back but he did, "And why do you think that young lady?"
- There was a change in tone, almost not noticeable enough but still made my skin crawl with something new. Damn even watching him and not being able to turn all my imaginations come true right beside the pool was whole bloody torture.
- "I don't think that, I know that," I rested my elbows on the stair behind me, leaning backward and letting the soft sun rays hit my face as I closed my eyes.
- Even with my eyes closed, I could feel Jacob's gaze following down the water droplets that glided down my skin.
- Of course, I was intentionally putting on a show for him, and I didn't know why I wanted it as an outcome. Maybe, for now, the feel of his gaze on my skin was enough.
- "You have really grown up...." I heard his low voice saying, it almost sounded like a suppressed growl of a deranged animal.
- "And you have turned more handsome than before," I spoke without glancing at him and lightly ruffled my now semi-wet hair to remove any excess water.
- "I thought you were scared of me then," This time what he said managed to make me look at him, the devilishly handsome face framed with green eyes and greek god-like features....was now strangely looking at me.
- A mix of confusion and amusement clouded his face.
- "It's nice of you to think that I used to run away because I was scared of you," The chuckle left my mouth automatically, "Because the real story was quite different."
- "And what's the real story, mind to tell Evelyn?"
- Well damn! The way my name sounded from his mouth left everything in my mind at sevens and sixes. I literally had to stop myself from clenching my thighs together to stop that heat just his voice had sowed within my body, or maybe that one particular sensitive part of it.
- "Why not keep it a secret, for now, Jacob? After all, secrets make everything more interesting," I found myself saying as I stood up.
- "You seem to be keeping a lot of secrets from childhood huh?" I saw him standing up too, in his hand, there was the robe that I had left on the lounge before I had gotten into the pool.
- "Sadly it was only you who thought of me as a child because I can certainly remember doing things that a child doesn't." I sighed shaking my head and walked towards him, he watched my every movement with attention as I stood in front of him.
- His gaze got fixated on me, I kept up with his stare for a while before I held my hand out in front of him, "Mind to give me my robe?"
- A half-smirk displayed on his face, his pearly white teeth came into my sight as he let out a quiet laugh and handed me the robe,"You are a different breed, Evelyn."
- "Thanks for the compliment, Jacob," I smiled and slipped the robe on, but then when I tried to tie it I found the tie missing.
- My brows stuck together in confusion and I looked at him, "You stole the tie?"
- Apparently, my words seemed amusing and he let out a laugh before bending down, his hot breath caressed my belly in the progress and I drew in a sharp breath in reflex.
- When he came back up I could see the white tie lacy in his hand, "It had fallen when you wore the robe." I showed me the tie and my mouth formed an 'o' form.
- Before I could process anything or get something to say, Jacob leaned closed and wrapped the tie around me slipping the edges inside string made circles and reaching over to the front of my belly.
- My heartbeat picked up a speed and my breathing turned heavier as his cologne wafted into my nostrils.
- His warm fingers brushed against my cold skin as he slowly knotted the tie, his eyes never leaving mine as he did.
- "Careful....little girl, because the fact you think a secret might not be a secret in real. Maybe....it is something someone has discovered long ago." He whispered and lightly tucked a few strands of my hair behind my ear leaving goosebumps all over my body.
- Holy hell! He just did not say that, well damn he did!
- The devilish smirk tugged at those full lips I wanted to bite on so badly.
- I was left speechless on the spot, his words had momentarily made me incapable of thinking anything straight. I could only look at him in bewilderment.
- "Go to your room, darling," He lightly brushed my cheek with the back of his fingers causing the warmth to pool my veins and the surreal need to rise.
- "You'll catch a cold." He said and with that, he began to walk away.
- I didn't know how my courage kicked in and the next question left my mouth.
- "Which secret are you talking about Jacob?" I asked from my place and he halted on his way.
- He glanced at me, the same gleam was shining in his green eyes that made my insides clench.
- "The secret you think I don't know about, "With that smirk being flashed at me he walked away out of the place leaving me alone in the poolside with a mess of my thoughts.
- Well, I had thought Jacob was clueless about my obsession with him, but today he had certainly proved that he probably knew more things than I expected him to know.
