- The party was loud. Pretentious. Overdone. And still, it managed to be mediocre.
- Gold-rimmed champagne flutes clinked over overpriced hors d'oeuvres. Crystal chandeliers dangled from the ceiling like they were trying too hard to impress. People walked around in shoes that probably cost more than rent, wearing smiles so fake I could hear them cracking with every “darling” and “so good to see you.”
