Chapter 2 Back To The Present

  • CHAPTER 2 BACK TO THE PRESENT
  • "Madam, we have arrived." The driver notified her.
  • She blinked rapidly and came back from the land of memories.
  • "Oh, I see. Thank you. Tommy, here, let me hold your hand." She said and carried the little boy out of the car.
  • The driver went to the trunk and carried out their luggage before leaving.
  • "Why didn't you pay him, mommy?" Tommy asked.
  • "That is because I have made the payment to his company directly. All I did was show him the proof." She replied and pulled him along to a very nice apartment.
  • It was situated amid every other apartment with a nice cool atmosphere. It was quiet and had a natural environment that could warm up one's soul and render one lazy anytime.
  • This was exactly what she had told Kira to find for her and she did exactly that. What a relief! On getting to the door, an obese woman appeared from what seemed to be the side of the house, it scared Evelyn a bit since she wasn't expecting any more to just show up like that without any noise.
  • ''Hello." Evelyn waved her hand.
  • "You must be Evelyn, right?" The woman asked as she checked Evelyn out.
  • "Yes, I am." She responded.
  • "That's good. I am your landlady, Kira told me that she has already spoken to you about the rules so I am only here to welcome you and then give you the key to your lovely abode."
  • "Thank you, Landlady." Evelyn said, wearing a smile.
  • "Is that your son? Whoa, he looks so cute and handsome at the same time. He reminds me of someone I saw back then but anyway, what is your name, little boy?" The landlady asked as she bent to Tommy's level.
  • "My name is Tommy but you can call me Tom and I am not a little boy." Tom answered and then pouted with a face of disagreement to what the aged woman said earlier. The landlady laughed merrily and gave Evelyn the keys.
  • "You are welcome, my dear. In case you need anything or if there is any problem as stated in the contract, my house is just a few seconds walk from here…take a look." The landlady pulled Evelyn and pointed at a house similar in design to hers that was indeed not far at all.
  • "Alright, ma'am. It's no problem. We will go in now. Thank you." Evelyn appreciated and ushered her son in quickly.
  • She was already tired and now this new landlady of hers was about to begin a sermon. The interior design of the house was fantastic.
  • The sitting room, though not wide, was still enough in her eyes as a comfortable one. The kitchen was just ten feet away from the sitting room and was made to face it, the dining table was also in the kitchen.
  • Then there was a short passageway that had two or three rooms. One was hers, the other was for Tommy and the last one was for the store.
  • The color was not too dark and not too light, Kira was good at color choosing anyway so she could come up with compatible and ' Wow ' colors anytime and any day.
  • "Mum, I want to see my room." Tommy nudged her and she did not hesitate in taking him there. When they opened the door, he squealed and ran to his toy collection. Evelyn wondered if her son still realized that there were other things better than his toy collection in the room.
  • "Look mum, my favorite Captain America toy." He showed it to her happily.
  • "Well, you should thank Kira for buying everything for you. Get some rest, boy. We will go and visit her in the evening."
  • Evelyn instructed and went to their luggage. She had no time to unpack so she went for the one where she packed the groceries and snacks that they might need at a time like this.
  • "You can come and have some snacks, Tom." She informed him and the little boy came running by. That was his second most favorite thing; Snacks. If you wanna bribe him, get him a handful of snacks.
  • After settling on the ground, she ate a few and closed her eyes. This was it. She was back again after three years, what was going to happen to her now? What was going to be the next step of her life? While still thinking, she felt the little buddy snuggle up to his momma and Evelyn made him sleep comfortably so it wouldn't cause him body pain when he woke up.
  • Back to her thoughts, what was the next thing to do? What if HE was here? She didn't even know HIM!
  • "Just calm down, Evelyn. You arrived not quite long, don't get all apprehensive about it. Take a rest and you will be fine." She encouraged herself and slept off.
  • "I believe this will be the end of the meeting for today. You are dismissed." A loud voice ordered and everyone stood up as quickly as possible, their feet hurrying up out of the conference room as if they were being chased out; precisely though they were being ordered out by their boss, the only Raphael Theophilus.
  • Raphael Theophilus, the name that most people in the company were afraid of. He was the middle child of his family and the second son of the Theophilus family.
  • The Theophilus family was known for being involved in different businesses as long as it brought them the profit they wanted. They were known as the JACK OF ALL TRADES.
  • The leadership mantle fell on the Chairman of the DEE THEO GROUP OF INDUSTRIES, the one, and only Michael Theophilus. A man of experience in business and underworld activities. Many praised him for being who he was while a few saw his riches as being obtained from dirt but either way that it was, he did not mind.
  • Michael Theophilus remained the Chairman but hardly did not miss any meetings, instead his first son, Vegas Theophilus handled everything as he ought to as this was his duty as the first child.
  • As for Raphael, he recently turned cold and reserved after the incident that struck him three years ago. It was a well-known incident that spread like wildfire all over the country, the famous second son of the family was scammed by a lady that he claimed to be in love with. It was such an embarrassing season in the family as this only made the distance between the father and son grow and also made Micheal despise him that much.
  • When the incident happened, Raphael had pleaded not to pursue the lady in question and that he would work for it again. Since then, he automatically turned 180 degrees in his attitude and behavior.
  • "Have you been able to get all the information that I told you to?" Raphael asked coldly as they walked past the buildings into his office. His assistant, Jeremy, adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat.
  • "Not yet, sir."
  • "Not yet?! What do you mean by that? Do you know how long this has been pending? It's been a whole fcking three years and you have still not been able to find anything about her?"
