Chapter 36 Flight Attendant

  • The flight was just settling into that comfortable hum, and I was trying not to doze off when the flight attendant made her appearance. She was beautiful, of course—long blonde hair tied back in a sleek ponytail, eyes lined perfectly, and a uniform that looked like it had been tailored just for her. She walked down the aisle with the kind of grace that would make a runway model jealous, her smile so dazzling it looked like it had been practiced in front of a mirror a hundred times.
  • “Good afternoon,” she said, her voice honey-sweet as she stopped at our row. But—and this was where I started seeing red—her gaze zeroed in on Mr. Thorne like I didn’t even exist.
  • I was right there, okay? Not invisible. Not part of the upholstery. But to her, I might as well have been air.
