Chapter 1 Scandals
- "Naomi, did you see the headline news? Last night, Magnus got completely drunk and was photographed at the hotel entrance with a woman in his arms!"
- In the early morning, I was sitting in front of my computer checking emails.
- The email I received yesterday was the admission invitation from Leeds College of Arts in Meriland.
- Still hesitating, I received a call from my best friend, Victoria.
- While talking with her, I quickly opened Twitter.
- I saw the headline of the news. stating that the Heir of the Carter Group, Magnus Carter, had a late-night meeting with a young model.
- The number of views had exceeded 100 million.
- I patiently clicked on the news, and the photo of Magnus hugging a beautiful woman took up half of the phone screen.
- The comments on Twitter were even more explosive, with over 1 million comments.
- I casually scrolled through the comments.
- "Wow, isn't she the new model Melissa Kimmons? She managed to hook up with Mr. Carter!"
- "Ah, I really wish I were the woman in Magnus's arms!"
- "I heard that Magnus got married a few years ago. Could it be a rumor?"
- "How could Mr. Carter possibly marry so early? He's ours!"
- *****
- I coldly finished reading the news and had no intention of paying any attention to the rumors online.
- Three years ago, I was forced to marry Magnus under the coercion of my father and stepmother because of the company's financial needs.
- Everyone in Avalon knew that Magnus was a playboy, and I was just a victim of a marriage alliance.
- On our wedding night, Magnus didn't come home. I called him several times but to no avail.
- Soon after, he said that our marriage was only in name and asked me to leave him alone.
- I was about to close the news, but then a video interview popped up at the bottom of my phone. The main subject was none other than Magnus.
- The video played automatically.
- In the video, Magnus's handsome face revealed a casual indifference. His white shirt was casually unbuttoned at two buttons, making him look irresistibly charming.
- "Who said I'm married? You can't just spread rumors like that. My baby Melissa would be unhappy if she heard this," Magnus retorted.
- Seeing his expression, I rolled my eyes.
- I knew very well what kind of person Magnus was.
- In the three years of our marriage, he rarely came home and only brought me endless gossip and scandals.
- "Naomi, are you alright?" Victoria asked on the phone. Her voice was filled with concern.
- "Don't worry. It's no big deal."
- After ending the call with her, I clicked on the mouse to confirm and sent back the admission invitation letter.
- It had always been my dream to study jewelry design at this school.
- My dream was to become one of the top jewelry designers in the country.
- However, this marriage had blocked my way.
- Now, I was finally going to end these dark and gloomy days.
- I didn't care about Magnus. He was just a jerk and could go to hell.
- I was just one step away from freedom, ending this absurd marriage.
- I called Magnus in the morning, but he only got back home in the evening.
- The door opened, and Magnus walked in wearing a black shirt. The shirt was slightly unbuttoned, revealing his alluring collarbones and exuding an indescribable, evil charm.
- His handsome face, once full of youthful charm, instantly darkened with impatience upon seeing me. Noticing my gaze on his chest, he disgustedly fastened the button.
- "What's so important that you had to wait for me to come back? Couldn't you say it on the phone?" Magnus sat down across from me in the farthest spot.
- As soon as he sat down, several scents immediately filled my nostrils. Along with his men's cologne, there were also various women's perfumes, some strong and some subtle.
- The mix of scents made me feel dizzy and overwhelmed.
- "You forgot that we're already married, right? This home doesn't belong to me alone. Shouldn't you come back?" I said calmly, rubbing my forehead.
- "Don't mention marriage to me. It disgusts me so much! It's just like a trade. We're only married because of our parents. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have married you!" Magnus's eyes were full of disdain. He didn't even bother to look at me.
