Chapter 9 Murder

  • "Is Mr. Ji who is trying to play me, no?" I pointed to the demand on the contract and stood up, unafraid.
  • Then, I threw the paper onto Ji Zeyan.
  • I left without even turning my head for the slightest bit.
  • If I had stayed a second longer, I was afraid that I would fail to keep up my pretendence and break down in front of him.
  • I hurried out of residential quarter. The lavish gateway loomed behind me. How laughable was my previous naive thoughts.
  • How could Ji Zeyan, the CEO of Qingtian Company, fall in love with a woman simply because he had slept with her?
  • Even if I have the same face as the person he loves.
  • --
  • After I moved into Jiang Shan's hosue, my life restarted.
  • I graduated from college studying interior design. When I was in my senior year, I found a pretty good place to intern. By the time I finished college, I was one of their full time employee. However, because the Qin family told me that the Ji family is a well born family, and they won't like to have their daughter-in-law making too much public appearance.
  • Thus I stupidly quit my job.
  • Now, I have to start over.
  • At least, when I told the head of the company that I interned in before about my situation, he agreed right away for me to go back to work.
  • Both the salary and the benefits remained the same.
  • Interior design work often require one to rush from one construction site to the next. Working overtime was a common occurrence. Weekend breaks were no more than a mere concept.
  • A week later, I worked until 11 into the night. Exhaustion ate away at me, reducing my plan to finish the last pack of instant ramen at home and then immediately crush.
  • Jiang Shan's house is pretty old. The light in the hallway broke some while ago. I crawled up the stairs in the dark when I noticed someone on her phone standing in front of the door. My first thought was that Jiang Shan forgot her keys.
  • I joked, "Jiang, I am pretty surprised that this is your fist time that you forgot your keys in the half month I moved here."
  • Right as I finished my sentence, I suddenly realized that her height seemed off.
  • Before I could take a closer look, that person slipped her phone back into her pocket and yelled back, "Qin Ziqi! You bitch! What did you tell Zeyan?!"
  • Then I realized that person was none other than Qin Ziqin.
  • "What did I say?" Hunger clouded my mind. I had no idea what I had said.
  • "Did you say I sleep around? Someone told me that he is looking into my past!" She stepped down the stairs towards me as she spoke.
  • After that reminder, I finally remember that I told all the bad things about Qin Ziqin I know to Ji Zeyan after I got drunk.
  • Looks like although Ji Zeyan did appear to believe my words, but he still looked into them.
  • This realization lifted my mood, "What does that have to do with me? After all, be as wealthy as the Ji family, isn't it normal for them to look into their heir's wife?"
  • The hallway was too dark for me to see Qi Ziqin's expression. She was silent for a few seconds.
  • I thought she gave up, "If you are done, I am gonna take my leave."
  • Just as I moved away, she suddenly grabbed my arm and cackled, "Qin Ziqi, do you really think you can beat me like this? Keep dreaming!"
  • Just as suddenly, she jumped backward, screaming, "No! No! Ah! Help!"
  • In that instant, the sound of a person falling down the stairs rang out in the dark hallway.
  • Then, silence settled back in.
  • I was stunned. I never thought that Qin Ziqin would turn against herself.
  • She had fall down all the way to the third floor. The sound was loud enough to call out the family living on that floor. The husband opened the door while the wife hid behind him.
  • The light from the room behind them shone upon Qin Ziqin, who laid motionless on the ground.
  • "Ah! Murder?" The wife cried.
  • Even with the anger boiling inside, I couldn't afford to wait and called 120.
