Chapter 7
- TALON’s POV
- I sat up from the bed, wincing at the pain I felt in my stomach. The room was empty, but I could perceive a familiar smell, the smell of my mate. Though it was a little as if it were fading, I perceived it.
- I felt the lingering taste of something in my throat. I had felt Amelia’s touch on my face earlier, it had to be a dream. Because Amelia wouldn't want to get close to me with the way I treated her.
- The door creaked open and two doctors entered. I watched their eyes widen in shock and their mouths hung open, before they regained their composure and bowed.
- “Your highness! You're awake.” The bald one among them exclaimed, bowing before me.
- From the look on their faces, I must definitely have been unconscious for a long time. This sickness was the first of its kind, I had never been sick my whole life.
- It started with an ache on my shoulder, before it spread through the rest of my body. I hadn't seen it as something serious; thus I ignored the warning signs. It was when I started coughing out black blood that I knew how serious it was.
- Doctors from the packs hadn't been able to find a solution to it, doctors from other packs were contacted, yet all their efforts were futile. The last thing I heard before everything went black was, “He wouldn't be able to survive this, he’ll die in a few days.”
- But here I was, feeling rejuvenated except for the slight pain I felt in my stomach. More doctors trooped in, and I could see the look of the excitement on their faces.
- “How long have I been unconscious?” I asked, facing the bald doctor who seemed to be their head.
- “A week and a few days your highness.” He replied.
- “We need to recruit that maid, her herb making skills are top-notch!” He exclaimed.
- “You see, it all thanks to me. I convinced you to give her a chance. Remember you were skeptical at first.” A lanky doctor whispered to the bald one. Though it was a whisper, I caught unto what he said as my hearing was sharper than normal wolves.
- “I didn't know it would be successful.”
- I raised a brow when I heard this. A maid had saved my life? I already had an inkling on whom this maid might be.
- “It would be best for you to stop those whispers and speak directly to me.” I said coldly, watching the excited expressions on their faces change to a frightened one.
- “I apologize, your highness.” The bald one bowed.
- “We had tried the best methods and used different medicines, but it all proved to be futile. The beta came with a maid last night, who said she knows what might cure you. I was at first skeptical, but the beta assured us on the maid skills at making divine herbs. We were excused.” He explained.
- My heart skipped a bit on hearing this, the maid was who I thought she was, my mate, Amelia. Hearing my Beta, Charles, was with her was enough to confirm my suspicions. I knew Charles and Amelia were quite close, he always stood up for her and engaged in fights with me for her sake.
- ‘Why did she save me?’ ‘Why didn't she let me die, knowing that she would be free if I died?’
- “Which pack are you from?” I asked the bald doctor. It was obvious that he wasn't from my pack, I knew all the doctors in the pack. And it seemed they put in more work, as the doctor is from my pack gave up.
- “Dawnsville pack, your Highness.”
- Dawnsville pack. The pack was quite a distance from Red claw, their alpha was a distant cousin whom I never related with.
- “You’ll be paid more than what you charged. You can leave.” I ordered, laying down on the bed.
- “Thank you, your highness.” The bald one and the others bowed.
- “Before I leave, I need to make sure you're perfectly okay. Do you feel pains anywhere?” He asked.
- “In my stomach.” I said.
- He gave a herbal paste to one of the Pack's nurses, it was to be used on me to massage the part I felt pain. After a while, the doctor’s eventually left, and I was with some maids in the room to cater for my needs.
- My thoughts went back to Amelia. She had saved me, despite the way I treated her after that night. I always had a hatred for omegas ever since I was young. My family were wiped away because of the jealousy on one omega.
- I had accepted her as payment from the Blue Moon pack, not just because I wanted a breeder, but also because I wanted her to suffer. Amelia had a striking resemblance to the omega who had caused the death of my family.
- There was a star tattoo on her neck, which the other omega had. I saw it the night we mated, and memories of my family's death flooded in. It only infuriated me the more when I discovered that she was my mate, and omega.
- Looking back, I realized Charles was right after all. Amelia had nothing to do with what happened to my family, even if they were related. My wolf howled in need of his mate, which I deprived him of after that night.
- He wasn't the only one. Deep down, I yearned for her, I wanted her. The one thing I wanted to do now was to hug her and apologize, which was foreign to me. But I doubt she would even want to see me, I was sure she cursed at me every day.
- Anger coursed through my veins at the thought of her being with Charles at this moment. Unable to hold it in any longer, I called for a maid, “Get me the maid, Amelia.”
