Chapter 5

• “Son of a bitch “Nick shouted.
• “How could we let him escape again? We had him right here. Where have I gone wrong? I have all incompetent officers who cannot do their work right, give me one good reason Why I should not fire all of you?”
• He paced back and forth in the room, when he finally came to a stop he told everyone to go back to the station except Ana. He needed explanation from Ana why he disobeyed a direct order. It was her mistake that the subject has escaped again.
• “Ana I am giving you the last warning. Never again shall you disobey me, I will strip you off your post and the mission. Are we clear about that?”
• ”Yes Sir” She said with embarrassment. All this time Nick was talking, she was looking down. She never wanted to meet his angry gaze which scared the hell out of her.
• Seeing how afraid she was, his heart softened. She has a way of making him calm down his nerves just by looking at her. Something was making him worry. Ana has gotten too close to Mark to his liking. She had to risks everything in her career to come save him.
• He suddenly felt sad that Ana was getting further away from his reach and if he doesn’t man up enough soon, somebody else will snatch her from him.
• After being silent for a while he finally managed to say sternly “Good, make sure you give me results next time we meet.” With that he left and drove in a black tinted car that only the bosses are allowed to drive.
• “Now that we are left alone all I want is to hug and kiss you my darling, thank you so much for saving my life” Mark whispered in her ears.“ I love you” said Mark as he held her closer to his heart.
• “Me too” She replied unsure if she really meant it. Apart of her was still holding back and wondered if, it will be possible to completely forget about Nick that easily. She was trying so hard to remove him from his heart and allow Mark completely in.
• “I admire how brave you were. You had to stand up against my ruthless brother without hesitation. You are my hero, I hope you know that.
• “I was just performing my duty of catching bad guys”
• Now more than ever she had to find Mike, For the sake of her career and the relationship she has started developing with Mark.
• She started reviewing cases which Mike was involved in again, she thought it was possible that she had missed something important. At the back of her mind she couldn’t take Mark out of her thoughts, it was a dream come true. She wasn’t sure though if what Mark says she feels for her is true, but she was willing to give it a try with all the consequences that she will face.
• Nick heard rumours from the employees talking about Ana and Mark. They said that the two were seen kissing and that just a few days they were jogging together in public.
• One of them asked “Could there be something between them? I hope officer Ana can find someone who will make her happy. That girl is really pretty is a shame that the boss does not recognize how much she adores him.”
• “What are you guys talking about?” Nick asked while standing on the door.
• “Can you all go back to your workstations and do something meaningful with your time. I believe we have a lot of work to do”
• “What a snobbish person” they complained in low tones while going back to work.
• When Nick went back to his office he could not help but get very sad. His mood changed that suddenly he didn’t feel like reviewing all the files on his desk. What he heard being said pierced his heart in a painful way he could not explain
• Just the thought of Ana with another man was enough for him to go crazy. He wondered why Ana was in a rush, she could have just waited a little bit longer for him to reorganize his life. This way it was easy for him to take her as his woman.
• Without thinking he took his car keys and headed directly to a bar nearby. He knew that was not a good idea since he was a respected person. A bar was not an ideal place for a Police Boss to be. He shrugged a way the constant reminder in her mind and went right ahead. Today more than ever he needed a real drink. He wanted to drink his brains out until he couldn’t think of Ana anymore and consider himself the biggest loser in the world.
• Yeah he knew love sucks, especially after what he has been through in the past with women. But why does the thought of Ana starting her life with another man suffocate him like that? He wondered silently.
• But today more than anything else he needed a drink to drown his sorrows. He entered the bar and ordered a beer. He kept on drinking until he was wasted, he couldn’t even stand by himself.
• Ana was passing by when she noticed someone who looked like Nick staggering and trying to find his car keys. He wondered what was wrong with him. She has never seen him loose himself like that.
• She quickly packed the car and immediately went running to help him. When Ana reached closer to him, she asked “Nick what is the matter with you? You can’t drive like this? Please let me help.”
• “If you want to help me please be my woman”. She looked at him directly in the eyes and didn’t understand what he just said.
• Nick on realizing that pulled her close to his body in a very tight hug. Ana was dumbfounded .She couldn’t even utter one word .Her throat felt dry and her body was already warm.
• “What are you doing?” She finally managed to say
• “Ooh… Ana you are very stupid…. Can’t you see how much I am crazy in love with you? This job is going to tear you apart from me. Please stay with me, I beg you.”
• Ana couldn’t understand what he was saying .So she broke free from his embrace and urged him in to the car .She took his car and drove to his house. It’s a good thing she knew his apartment where she had gone a few times to hand over reports.
• At the door he gave her keys to the locks. The house was painted in white and it was very clean and beautiful. Ana had always admired the finishing whenever she came in the past.
• Ana went to the kitchen and prepared a cup of coffee for him. She knew it will make him comeback to his senses. By the time she came back to the sitting room with the cup on her hand he had already left and was sound asleep on his bed.
• She took off his shoes and loosened his tie slightly exposing his chest to a beautiful view. She couldn’t help but want to look more by unbuttoning his shirt.
• After struggling for a while Ana just took the duvet and covered him. She looked at the wall clock and it was already late she couldn’t go back to her house.
• Her car was parked in a safe place and she knew it will be taken care of until tomorrow morning. So she decided to sleep on the couch. She took some sheets from the closet and went to the siting room. She also took Nicks pillow.
• That night , Ana could not get any sleep .She kept on turning and turning for several hours .Nick’s scent on the pillow contributed to some extent to her being awake. She kept thinking of what happened between her and Nick at the parking lot.
• She felt so good being in his arms and wondered about all those things he said to her. But at the end he was just drunk so everything he said didn’t make any sense to her and she will make sure to forget them .She didn’t want to get her hopes up with the possibility that Nick loves her.
• Suddenly Nick woke up at the middle of the night. He was so thirsty and immediately climbed out of the bed to go get a glass of drinking water. When he looked at himself he wasn’t wearing pajamas and he thought that was odd.
• He just yawned and walked out of the bedroom .On his way to the kitchen he saw the surprise of his life. There was a woman lying on his sofa set. He moved closer and discovered that it was Ana.
• Her beautiful blonde hair was spread on the pillow and he could see her hugging the sheets. She didn’t cover herself well and Nick thought that being a cold weather she could catch a cold with that kind of behavior.
• What puzzled him was how Ana ended up in his house and sleeping in his couch. The last thing he remembered was drinking in the bar after hearing those damned employees talking about Ana.
• She brushed her hair softly and carried her to the bedroom. She must have slept late because she didn’t even realize that someone was carrying her. After that Nick went on to drink his water and continued sleeping on the couch where Ana previously slept.
• Ana must have slept for a very long time. When she woke up she found herself on Nick’s bed. She rubbed her eyes and tried remembering what happened last night.
